That was a good read...now all I gotta do is go and see the blimin' movie!!
This part was funny:
Mention the words "Biker Boys" or "Torque" to a real rider, and you'll be met with a shudder and a scowl - and that's if they only saw the commercials!

Well,sort of west coast,,,sort of.
But still better than an Aussie,Pom,or American accent like we usualy get lumbered with.
An one of the best movies I've seen in a long time, can't wait to buy the DVD an watch it a few dozen more times:yes:

Does anyone know how we could get to see the 70's documentary?

I thought it was well done... even the accent was ok especially when you consider what he started with, not a bad effort really. Everyone I know has seen it and is ready to see it again.

I'm reading the book now... good read!
"One good run - the legend of Burt Munro" by Tim Hanna.
A quote from the opening of the book
"If it blows up before the line it's too hot, if it blows up after the line it isn't hot enough, and if it blows up on the line it's just right" - Burt Munro
Be aware - in the authors words
"This work is a dramatic recreation of Burt Munro's life. It is not a history. I have used the available research to create an account that fits the facts and reflects his character and personality..."
But it's GREAT background stuff - and a good easy enough read (if you're a bookworm like me)

I thought he did quite well actually at representing a South Island accent from the 1960's. It didn't sound too bad to me.

I think I head somewhere that he does a great Tim Shadbolt impression, love to see that when he picks up the Oscar!

When I lived in OZ I was asked if I was a Pom a couple of times when I visted Victoria,(their a bit backward down there). But then I actualy prefer that to being mistaken for an American.
No disrespect ment to Yanks but there just arn't as many people keen on shooting at Poms.:msn-wink:

I've had plenty of people mistake me for a Pom, even while still in NZ. Americans seem to do it most often.

For you maybe, but I don't watch the thing.I prefer to read - and it doesn't matter who wrote the book and where they come from...reading only enhances my language skills.

Finally saw the movie tonight (an hour ago) and gave it a 7/10. Good acting, appreciated the NZ sentiment, lol even Shadbolt acted well! Didn't like the US transvestite (that's just me) but did enjoy the dipiction of American culture mixed in with what felt like a good old Kiwi movie! :2thumbsup
Btw, Hopkins' Aotearoa accent was average IMO. It's a hard one to act out because truth be known Kiwi's don't have an accent, mate!
