My gixxa 750 has just developed 2 problems.

1. Whilst cruising it has taken to surging, almost like it's starving itself of fuel, when its full on no problems, but when cruising in traffic, it gets a litte surge thing going.

2. The rear brake has started to groan under braking once hot. I pulled them apart last week to find the spacer between the piston and pad loose, thinking that was what the problem is. But it's still there. Could it be cheap pads? It had a new rear disc some 1000 klix ago, so should be good?

Any help much appreacited.

Not a stretched chain?

1. Myriad of options, but my guess is jet blockage or airleak.
Strip & clean carbs, likely blockage of jet or float level height (check crud under float needle. Possibly wear in needles jets (check out factorypro website). Check carb diaphragms. Check for airleaks including the top of carb covers where the syncro tool tubes plug into (little rubber cover could have fallen off). Check airfilter.

2. Check disc is straight (new or otherwise) Did you buy new pads? Old ones may be worn on angle. Does the piston retreat properly? Sounds like some twisting action or odd pad material.
Is there markings from pad debri on the disc. Can sand off.

yeh that surging is a jet problem. Got the same on my gixxer but that's cause the carbs are jetted for a full yoshi system but I bought it with only a standard system on......
