diesel is like the betamax video cassette system. some people used it and it was good but it just doesnt have the profile to become popular.

they look kinda cool though

Ya can buy diesel KLR650's in the states now, $$$$ & acceleration like an arthritic snail but 100mpg apparently.

Cheers

aren't diesel engines noutoriously overweight by design?
it'd be good tho.. often torquey too.. 5th gear powerstands?

TWR, that engine design looks like a beast!!

electric would be good but 5th gear power stands sounds lots of fun back straight of manfield hit 5th up comes the front wheel Turbo them? Me and dad were talking about them being the ultimate motor just to slow and heavy they are torquey like a 4 stroke and power band like a 2 stroke keep it in that rev you have heaps of torque and quick acceleration higher compression also which is good for late braking:banana:

The weight of the Star Twin Thunderstar (they need a new name cos saying that lot just sounds lame) is about 205kg wet from memory. They reckon they're aiming for 100+hp, but more importantly up to 250Nm of torque. Farken tyre shredder.

according to the article the bikes name is derived from its wheel base 1740mm the rear tyre is a 240 profile:yes: , it uses ohlins front & rear:banana: , the wet weight of the bike is 275kg:blink: , 6 speed cassette type gearbox, common rail six point injection

it pulls 2820rpm @ 160km/h:blip: :2thumbsup

Isn't that with a full tank of gas? Usually the wet weight is all fluids except petrol.

Cool stuff, deisel power is the way of the future.Gale Banks (turbo guru) is building a racetruck (ute sorta by us standards) that's gonna open some eyes.

Since the invention of direct injection they've come forward in leaps and bounds.:doobey:

haven't got a clue ? its just what was put in the article ( it's less than half a page!) still though with that amount of torque it wouldn't be a factor and the low height of the bike it wouldn't be a concern either, the seat height is only 500mm off the tar
