Wish we could come too. But we're on the other Island, and right at the bloody top! Suppose if we leave now.... mmmmmm. Have an awesome ride guys, make sure someone takes plenty of pic's for the rest of us to see. We had a great day yesterday up hear with other KBers, the big yellow was out all day and is again today, but Im too tired, and too broke to even consider another ride. Maybe need to go to the shops for more milk though. Check out our pic's via TL Riders profile, you'll see a link to "Sucking Bugs", and find the pic's there. Look forward to your stories post ride.:ride:

As I'm new to the forum I hope this ain't too out of place...
For those riders worried wether they can keep up or not, wether they be novice or just underpowered, stop worring, just come along.:yeah:
I am not to fast on the road anymore. Now I just enjoy being out there for a cruse and regularly ride with newbe riders (i've got a few friends just moving toward full licences now). Stop worrying, there aren't any fast guys going... the canterbury plains ain't much of a skill test. And Arthurs is a road where it usually pays to admire the scenery more than the racer crouch of the guy in front.

OK.... as it seems theres going to be a few rock up for this ride and there is a bit of concern showing regarding cc's and new riders.
So Bren and myself had a quick chat and this is the basics as to what we came up with.

Meet up at The Yaldhurst pub @ 10:00am Sun
It would be good to be riding by 10:30.

Can all bikes please be full of gas at the meeting point and then everyone will need to top up at Springfield (this will allow the remaining ride to return back to Springfield before needing more fuel)

We will ride the 'Old West Coast rd' to Waddington then onto Springfield.
If everyone is happy to we will ride to the Viaduct lookout, then return to the Bealey pub for a drink and grub not to forget a good old chin wag (talk shit bout CX500's)

Right then, All riders ride at "their pace" and do not out ride it. Regular stops will be made for regroups, should the group split into two then someone will keep and eye out for the last riders.

Any Questions ask away...

Whats the weather forecast first? How many km's is it approx round trip?

Transalper
24th November 2005, 23:15
Weather forcast is for fine weather and even more sun on the west side of the mountains.
The distance from Christchurch to Arthurs Pass is approx 150km and the Viaduct is maybe about another 10km (I'm not sure exactly where along the road the viaduct is on my map).

So the round trip from Christchurch to the Viaduct and back to Christchurch would be in the ballpark of around 320km.

well I dont... not any more, but there are bikes that can only just scratch 200k on a tank.... but you know that.

And IMO I find theres nothing more anoying than 90% of people fill up and then 10k up the rd the other 10% decide they want to :bash:
But hey... its all up to you lot, Gav should someone run out... then we will disect the VFR and drain its tank as we know you will have enough for the day:spudbn:

Great photos Rashika - love the one of me (Of course!!!). Had a great day, I am pleased I changed my mind and went. Should have been studying, should have been moving house but the ride was fantastic. The cop with the flashing lights gave me a hell of a fright! I was definitely in the groove coming home but my hands got really sore in the winter gloves.
Looking forward to the BBQ. great to meet a few more KB'ers and also to reconnect with Rob and Transalp.:2thumbsup

Good ride guys. A hearty thanks to those who stuck with Ms Sniper and showed her lines and also made her a much more confident rider.

It was a fantastic day and Ms Sniper came back with the biggest grin on her face. Bigger than............... well I won't say. Once again Bren proved that he rode like a girl but hey, maybe he will change one day.

Thanks for the great pics Rashika, Now Bren just needs to post the wheelies that the irrresponsible one did and also that mint 50m stoppie I did.

Hey guys I would like to extend a huge thankyou to everyone the trip was fantastic. I had the best time and you will definately see me out there again hopefully soon. The wind was a pain but I managed.

Dangerous thanks for making sure I was comfortable on the ride its great to have allies out on the road. I'd also like to thank AdamB for going ahead and showing me a better way of cornering. I'm sure mine would have seen me in a ditch or slower than the turtle.

The pic's are great, awsome to see what I look like.

Smiling ear to ear I shall say good night and sweet dreams. :2thumbsup :2thumbsup

Yep, but not for a bloody long time. Must give it a wash for Xmas!

I had a great time today, the weather was near perfect, the scenery was amazing, and having a fricken huge chunk of Lasagna for lunch topped it off.

Yea, thanks. I poked and prodded a few things but i'm sure it was a bad earth at the battery terminal. I have trouble getting that side cover off with the Givi racks on so i kinda avoided it at first:doh: , but when I finally went and got into it properly I lost the nut of the terminal into the motor :argh: and it took a while to find and recover it. Once it was cleaned up and back together she was a runner again.:2thumbsup

Dangerous, whats the story with trying to take out that bird (of the feathered variety) when we turned on to the Old West Coast Road at Sheffield on the way back. I saw you, what did that bird do to you? Model citizen indeed. :msn-wink:
