I own a shoei 1000 helmet but after only and hour of having it on my head gets really itchy - no its not nits! It really drives me mad as I have to stop my ride and scratch my head. It helmet fits well except that from the top of my head to the top of the helmet there is a bit of space causing the lining to rub on my scalp. Any idea of how I can solve this one??????? Please

Is this the first helmet you've owned?

Grow a bigger head? Dunno, did you notice fitting problems when you bought it? I can imagine this would be a real pain in the backside, and especially when you spend good coin on something thats not quite right! Sorry, no useful suggestions here:blink:

It doesn't sound like a fitting problem. Try getting some hygenic hair nets from NZ Safety or Protector safety. They're very thin and may help if your scalp is reacting to the lining.

Is it a short hair thing? I mean I have a buzz cut (No. 0) and when it starts to grow the bristles get a little itchy when I ride - but then I just go home and cut off what's grown. Could be an allergic thing tho'? What's the lining made of? If it's synthetic that could be the problem - quite common apparently.

That's an idea, I'll try that.
I'm surprised you're still here - she hasn't dragged you out the door to ride yet??? Oh right, she's already gone....

You could try a silk/thin balaclava(sp?), i've just bought one recently for $14 from the local bike shop, also bloody good for keeping the neck warm during those cold mornings.
