What time is cake?

I can't ride at the moment (can't walk either) but I'll encourage Mrs Bung to drive me up the line to say hi and whatnot.

Hoping to do the cake run sleep on Paul NZeds front lawn then get up and do the Vic ride and BBQ on Sunday. Hope its not to wet this weekend otherwise I'll have to do plan B (drive the van down).

Haven't asked Paul about this yet but if I brought down a few old vynil records, cake forks or something he may agree to it. His record player probably doesn't play 78s anyway and he probably doesn't like listening to Moreschi.

Just to clarify...

The idea of a repeat of last years monster BBQ or another similar event was floated earlier (several times). There was limited interest so it was scaled back and the kind respondents have been pm'd re a smaller bbq type function after the coffee cake type thing.

Please do not be offended if you were not pm'd, if you desperately want to burn a sausage afterwards with us, you are more than welcome BUT this will not be the same open house deal as last year. There was not enough support for a repeat.

To clarify, the deal is:

We meet at the car park top of the Rimutaka hill at 2pm!

Catch up for 20 mins or so and then ride down the hill, over Haywards and the paekakareki Hill road to our place in Raumati South. There will be enough people there that know the way, if you are not sure, please ask.

if you get lost, my cell is 027 249 9959

I assume that we will be at our place around 3:45 to 4:15pm. We will provide coffee and xmas cake.

Afterwards, we will have a very (very) simple bbq. This is a byo bbq which is a pain on a bike so lets keep it simple.

We will not be going all night. It's a very busy time of the year and Vicki and I have obligations on sunday for a charitable organisation. We need to be functioning and relatively coherent! (well no worse than usual)

Hope to see you there!

Paul N

Notes: (this is NOT a list of orders or conditions, just stuff you might like to know about us if you have never been before)

You are welcome to bring you kids but please remember, we have a peculiar dog that is not overly fond of them or old men in hats (no we can't figure it out either) She is fine if you leave her alone, she is old and has a sore back where she got run over by a drunk in a 4WD! Her tail does not work!

Please look out for your children, ours have long since left home and our place is definately no longer kid safe. We have some toys to amuse them (they can put my triumph engine together) and plenty of space for them to play in.

Please remember that this is our house. We like our house... We are not fussy people but neither are we wealthy enough to replace windows and carpets after every bbq. We understand accidents.... We don't understand carelessness... (does that sound fair?)

Please don't trash our garden. It's big and built to be played in and explored by kids but not trampled and uprooted.

Garry - If one of the kids is away that night we will have a spare bed or will make one up for you in the lounge!

General:

In all likelyhood this is my last ever post on KB and I have logged on specifically to check this thread and make this post re the day. I didn't intend to do this but temptation was too much and I want to avoid akward questions tomorrow. I will not be answering pm's, emails, discussing it etc or anything else but I will check this post today and tomorrow. I have said my goodbyes to some of you and doubtless missed a hell of a lot of the rest of you. Sorry about that, it was not intentional, it just became an impossible task!

There is no anger in my heart over this decision, just sadness and a great relief.

FINALLY! Vicki and I wish you and yours ALL a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year. We are sure we will see you on the road sometime and around the usual traps.

Maybe its just natures way of supplying the necessary elements to improve our wet weather riding skills.

I don't reacon its going to get to bad until tomorrow so will be heading down there at around midday. See the real bikers on the top of the hill I guess.

Dafe
3rd December 2005, 07:48
Skelstar and I can't wait any longer!

We're headed to the hill soon. Meeting Caltex at 10am.
B/F run to Wild Oats. Rendevous at 2pm, top of the takas.
If you have nothing better to do, come out for breakfast!

Dafe and I were in Feathers just before 2pm and the wind was friggin scary. For some reason it wasnt all that bad on the hill but f*ck I was nervous. Meet Paul etc at the top but decided to head home. Hope the avo is going well. Awesome ride ta Dafe.

3rd December 2005, 20:20
Yep, I'm glad we got the Wairarapa ride in. We had a good three hours of fine weather at least. I also couldn't believe how the wind picked up in Featherston! The GSXR sure was getting blown around alot more than the old SV1000 used to.
Unfortunately the weather gods didn't favour us yet again - Or was it F5 Dave's poor ordering?
It was nice to meet you all at the top of the hill.
I didn't realise Paul had the FZED1 bike. I was lane splitting opposite you on the motorway on thursday night........
Looking forward to meeting with you all again. :2thumbsup

thanks for the ride Skelstar. I'm glad you took on the hill, confidence building stuff! I know the high winds can tend to be scary, but it is good to mix up your riding, well done.

Ah the weather was fine, wasn’t too windy on the route actually taken & the roads were dry with the exception of a few spots on the rimas.

Good day all around & cheers for Paul’s hospitality. Sorry I didn’t stay for the bb but had to shoot after cake.

Saw someone snapping pics somewhere?
