these werent even on my shortlist for a new bike till the weekend: I saw a black Thruxton with accessory mufflers. it sounded great, looked cool, and didnt leak.

Not too comfortable with the near 20k price tag though... a new speed triple is $20k with better forks shocks engine etc.

but still, anyone like to give me feedback about living with one of these on a daily basis:

enough power?
mods to consider (pipes obviously)
decent with a pillion?
what are the forks and shocks like?
fuel range?
OK to tour on in NZ (I think I know the answer to that... I am happy to tour NZ on my CB400F :) )

any warranty issues?
dealers good/bad/indifferent?

thanks everyone.

Don't own - but have done 1000's of Ks and tested them for KR.

>> enough power?

I reckon they go great. Not enough for 2 up and luggage long hard out touring - but solo - they fly. They are so slim, torquey and there is nothing to them - they are absolutely brilliant around the city

>>mods to consider (pipes obviously)

Shocks, fork springs and cartridge emulators

>>decent with a pillion?

Better than most litre bikes and many times better than a speed triple. Co-pilot found the Thruxton suprisingly comfy. Speed triple she went 200mtrs and said i want to get off.

>>what are the forks and shocks like?
Standard.

>>fuel range?
Longer than your bum will last on the seat.

>> OK to tour on in NZ (I think I know the answer to that... I am happy to tour NZ on my CB400F :)

Subjective - I have a Trophy 1200 for touring on.

>>any warranty issues?

Some spoke breakages and crank breather probs on early Bonnevilles (fixed now)

>>dealers good/bad/indifferent?
All the ones I know and deal with are good people

Triumph have Thruxtons in stock that they are keen to move - tell the dealer to 'sharpen the pencil'.

thanks again, and particularly for the last comment.
