Found this today - might bring back some memories for anyone who watched a bit of TV in the '70s.

I think this falls under the heading "Biker Culture".

Anyway, if you don't want to download 2.5Mb of nostalga, don't click below. :-)

Hahaha! Just reading those words takes me back to CHiPs. Old John and Ponch....hehe...I love to ride CHiPs style,(when cruising) and always giggle away to myself.

Apparently the actor who played John was shit scared of bikes. Would have made going to work each day a bit anxious.
We used to count how many hub-caps came off in each chase scene.

God I'm so old and lame for this I know BUT,
Do you remember the incident when the guys were chasing a car full of bank robbers and they turned off through a park and drove through the steel wire gates? One of the gates bounced back as the 2 bikes rode through and hit 'Ponch' (or his stunter anyway) on the hand, what they didnt show was about 3 seconds later he spilled off with his hand munted beyond words, apparently he was in hospital for 3 months due to wearing no protective gear and lost a finger to the gate.

I think I need therapy.... or at least another drink!

I am glad it raised a smile for a few people

It does not suprise me that people got hurt in that gear.

Judging from the way they managed to maintain long and detailed converstations on the bikes, I would say a lot of the actual actors time was spent filming while the bikes were strapped on the back of a trailor.

One episode that sticks in my memory involved them dealing with a very big guy who was literally ripping his Mini to pieces.

Does anyone know what bikes they rode? (Lou? - I am sure I saw an old post indicating you might have watched the odd episode...).

They would have been Kwaka's I believe... or Harleys but I'm sure they were Kwaka's.

I came across some pics on a Jap R1100RT-P web site and seems to be from a current remake of chips with them on Beemers.

Man, I goota get me some aviators :)

They had Z1000 Police Specials.
Funny though, when that show came out, most of us MOT guys had our johdpurs altered. (Too baggy as issued)
We never could get that talking while your riding thing though, we used R/T's.

Brilliant. Farq I loved watching those guys.

I just ran a quick poll in the office, asking people what programme the theme tune was from. 4 out of 5 people said the A team. Bloody heathens.

Thanks for the smile.
