View Full Version : Any Young Welly Riders keen?
Wasp

Seem as not many of my mates have vehicles and those that do have cages i figured i'd try find some young keen riders in the welly area that would be interested in meeting up and going for rides in the weekends and helping each other to learn our new bikes.
Also if any older experienced riders want to come supervise and offer advice you are more than welcome!
(we need someone to hold the :stupid::stupid: signs)
So. Rules are:
Under 20 (exceptions can be made)
Engine greater than 100cc (no scooters, sorry)
Learner or Restricted License
Comfortable with going on the motorway
People on trips must have atleast 3rd party insurance
Exceptions to the above rules can be made cos i dont want to be the only member of my "club"
If your interested just post here! or pm me instead.
So heres my effort to get back into riding since my crash.

hey the age thing is no problem as long as you dont mind hanging out with a 17 year old with an L plate. Now just remember that even though i am 17 i do have a job that pays more than $10 an hour (only just :P ) and i have my own key and parking spot in the work garage (damn i love having the bike) so im pretty mature for my age (some people reckon so anyways). Dont treat me like im a little kid basically.

Argh - The Insurance question arises again!!!
Answer - National Auto Club in Whangarei.
Advice - Take full cover, not third party. Some companies will actually cost more for third party.

You will find that there are a number of guys here that ride together often.
It's common for the group rides to have everyone ride at their own pace.
However, the group will frequently re-gather at various points.
You should talk to skelstar, he's a good paced 250 rider and you would do well to follow in his footsteps, he's still learning but he rides with alot of the thousands and he's been learning good lines and general road behaviour at a rapid rate.
As V-Twin always says, surrounding yourself with better riders will improve you quicker and safer.
The motomart ride and other club rides would be great for you!

Go along to the ride on Sunday (the Motomart one). It seems like an open invite and there'll be plenty of people there. Ill probably go (or maybe to the sprints in the Rapa).

as embarressing as this is im gonna make sure the tank is full aye.
ive already run out of fuel twice (no fuel gauge + L-plate are a bad combo) first time was up normandale so i just rolled it down to shell but the second time was going along the railway lines by waterloo while following a mate, we pushed it all the way back to mobil on the main road that runs past the hospital.
seems my reserve isnt working too well if at all.
