My Mrs hated the idea of me getting a bike(she works in a hospital...need i say more), which was amplified when a good friend of hers crashed his bike in riverhead on Bathurst weekend. However, she has slowly come round, and as ive been in the process of getting my full, getting some test rides and finally buying my new machine, she came round more and more.
Then this weekend just been, i managed to get her on the back and took her for a brief yet brisk spin around Ruakaka (where her parents live). I could hear her squealing with delight as i cornered and leaned right over.
When we stopped, she had the biggest smile on her face and couldnt stop going on about how cool it was. she now understands why i love riding, and is already talking about getting some proper gear.
i am a happy lad right now

Good, but now you have to think hard about how much more you want to encourage her to ride pillion...could change your whole motorcycling experience, for better or for worse? Either way stay happy ok!

i will take that into consideration. there is a time to ride alone, and a time to share. and i have no problems sharing the love of my life, with the love of my life. :p

Great read dude, my wife was the same, except she didn't have a choice, because I had been on bikes since age 17, so she knew it was a package deal, but she eventually decided one little ride along the waterfront early one saturday wasn't gonna hurt, and now, 15 years later, she's bugging the crap out of me to get the GSXR rebuilt, so we can go riding again !!!!

I've always had a bike since I've been married and my wife has never worried about me having one. Until now I haven't had a decent bike that was suitable for a pillion. Now she is hooked. Bought her own jacket and boots. I'm stoked as well. Pic of her with bike on the last ride we did.

Well done dude, I like you have been battling to bring round the mrs, but patience is a good thing. Well done for creating another enthusiast.

Must be stoked vince25,
Im surprised how many buddies of mine can't get there partners on there bikes, so congrats for you. My partner likes bikes as much as I do, she has no interest in getting her own bike at this stage, just loves to sit on the back & enjoy the ride. Almost everybody says your bike will handle like shit 2up... I beg to differ, I've been ridding for about 10 years, I find it easier to corner 2up as she hangs of the back of the damn bike trying to get us lower around corners... lol Maybe I should get a side car for her :)

that was the best thing, she didnt fight me round corners, which was the thing i was most worried about. her dad told her to just relax and go with it, so she did. shes so good.

I took my lady out last weekend for the first time and she summed up by saying that she didn't see the point in bikes  She's gonna have to go.
