SH16 Roadworks galore!

Apologies if this has been posted, but on SH16 between Kaukapakapa and Wellsford yesterday there was, I think, about 5 or 6 sets of road works!! Big ones too, with some requiring a 2-5 minute wait. On some parts there was gravel and stuff lying around with no warning signs too (north bound mostly).

Just be careful if you're heading that way...and if you're going there for a fun blast, don't bother, it kinda ruins it.

Yeah that's what I was thinking...would definitely help catch the runners.

That's what my olds said...just one section...but they've decided to tear it to bits this week.

We got stuck behind the Porsche club on Sunday, wobbling along at 10 bloody km/h because the tossers were scared of stone chips. If I could've got the Rocket in front I would've given them bloody stone chips.
Then a couple thought they could out-accelerate 2300 cc's of fine British engineering.:rofl:

I'll try Crashe...I'm not sure if they normally go that way...it's just that when I go to visit them in Manly, I sorta go via that way...hence why the 50km direct trip takes around 170kms my way :p I'll most likely check it out again in a couple of weeks anyway, n see if if it's all good by then :niceone:

Just back from ablast up to wellsford and back to auckland. went north on SH16, which in my opinion is in a lethal condition at the moment. There are patches of replaced road with loose chippings and NO warning signs. The most chilling was a section of a right hand corner with a huge drop off the left into a valley and a scary amount of loose chippings. This is normally a fast part of the road as well. I came upon it a little to fast, and had to rely completely on engine braking to slow as i daren't hit the brakes on the scree. Outrageous.

And then as if that wasn't bad enough, there are sections of road with NO seal at all, just like a dirt road. Saw alot of bikers today, hope no one had any spills.

In its current state SH16 should carry a government health warning

I really hope they sort it out before Christmas/new years cos I have some appointments up north and would rather not ride the dredded SH1 route! :bash:
