Have an IRC channel. IRC is internet relay chat, and is a quite a good way to sitr down and kill spare time having a talk with other bikers, without having to wait for people to post messages on the foum board.
It doesnt reduce the activity on the forums, it actually increases it, trust me, I have been doing this along time, and run my own website and chat channel.
I could pre-setup the program if anyones interested, and create a channel, and upload it, so people can get the program (mIRC), and push a couple of buttons, and be iinstantly in the chat channel, with no dramas.
Just offering, as there seems to be quite an interesting populace here on KB.
Let me know if interested, it will only take me a few minutes to set it up.

I don't even know how to use the "chat" facility on this board! Simply don't know what you are talking about. Sorry, John. :thud:

ahh ok i will make a more in depth post this time.
up the top the is a menu lablled chat. in order to chat you can download mirc by using the "irc scripts" link and click the "chat w/mirc" link after installing.
or just simply click the "java chat" (popup version reccommended) and click yes to accept the little program that makes it possible.
good luck and come chat, things are really slow in here.......

I saw that chat function, but mIRC does all that and a lot more, and does it alot quicker, and is so dead simple to use, even an old pratt like me can use it. It doesnt require any "plug-ins " either, and is real time (virtually), and very user friendly.
It is very useful.
Thanks for the replies so far.

I'm surprised more people don't use it, but I can see why if they dont already have mIRC, and lets be honest, the java version requires downloads that dial up users would find very frustrating to say the least.
If anyone wants to try using mIRC, I can set up the program for you, so all you need to do is open it, and it will connect directly to the kiwibiker IRC channel, and will even have your kiwibiker forum username pre-programmed into it, so its basically a click and chat excercise. This is dependant on what operating system (Windows version) you have, but it you are using Windows 98 or Me, I can still get it sorted.
You can Private message me if you are keen folks, I'm happy to do this for as many people who want it, it is a great deal of fun, and a great way to keep in touch.

If people have mirc or even opera the "chat with mirc" option sets everything up for them.

I tried it, ended up completely confused but that's more about me than the program thanks anyway. Cheers John.
