I think its the same deal as the 'reflective' plastic covers that you can get - they don't actually work from memory.
I'm pretty sure there's something in the law about obscuring your lisence plate?

Jim Lehman of GAL ( government accountability league) was marketing that crap back in 97' for $120 it was called FLASHBACK. just a gimmick.

Didn't they find that the numberplates showed up better with that on it because of the reflective properties of the spray enhanced the reflection of the white parts of the numberplate?

DUCT TAPE.

More cost effective while still allowing the flexibility for the plate to appear on all those occasions when it needs to appear.

Or the ultimate solution - allen key/screwdriver (usually contained in bike toolkit and therefore FREE).

For 42 bucks you cant go to far wrong... I think it would give you a false sense of security though, becasue I suspect it wont work.

As I recal this product has fine glass beads in it which scatter the light from the flash of the speed camera.

I've heard that in some cases the plate becomes more readable though.

you have a third hinge on the other edge. you put a pin in when you need to go get the wof

nah dude its a teflon coated hinge, basically so it doesn't stick or get tight etc. i had the set-up on my old GSX11 years ago, had the plate mounted on a bracket that was hinged at the top & a retainer clip at the bottom which had a old clutch cable attached to it, pull the cable button which was mounted down by my right knee & it released the clip & the plate & bracket flicked up to level by means of 2 springs mounted each end of the hinge. simple to set up & almost invisible to look at

That is a very simple and clever setup. But what happens when Mr Plod cruises up behind you unnoticed or in a stream of traffic? Isn't he going to notice the lack of a plate? And then be somewhat perplexed when he pulls you over to discover the plate has suddenly manifested.

I think the idea is that the only time you'd do this is if the plod were after you anyways, that or a speed camera, in which case you'd stop down the road and flick it down again.

snap!!!! like i said it was set up on my GSX11 i had years ago & at the time the law & me weren't on the best of terms. it was the old black face plates & speed cameras were just a noise from overseas & the cops drove VL commadores & XF falcons & road BMW R80s or XJ750s
