bright ideas, anyone?

I am trying to tighten the chain on my rg150 but the nuts that hold the rear wheel on won't budge. Any good ideas to try? I've used crc, tried using a jack to turn spanner (spannner broke:doh: )

You mean the big nut on the axle, yes? That won't turn? Or do you mean the nuts that you turn to actually adjust the chain? Which won't turn until you loosen the big axle nut.

Depends on what you have in your tool kit . Those axle nuts are pretty big so you can put a honking big spanner on (20" adjustable). I'm surprised you managed to break a spanner that size. If you have a rattle gun that'll get it off for sure.

If it's the little nuts that adjust the chain, need to be more careful, cos the adjusters could shear.They can't be that tight though, cos they're small. Try more CRC. Big axle nut, take a large drift. Apply it to the end of the axle then give it a good whack with the mechanics trusty friend, the BLOODY BIG HAMMER. Then do the same on each flat of the nut. Take care not to actually damage anything.

(Uh, if it is the big ale nut, does it have a split pin in it , as many do? Which you have removed, right? )

sounds like some funny barstard loctited them on. heat the nut up HOT then undo it - a heat gun is best but a hairdryer left on the nut for ages should be ok. i presume they haven't got a locking tab washer type arrangment or a split pin that has to be removed - some have a bolt thru them, but i shouldn't think a 150cc would have that - i'd be more inclined to think loctite or lock washer. you shouldnt need any more than a 1/2" breaker bar and 17mm (or whatever size nut) socket.

actually - just thought - is it 2 nuts tightened together? unlikely, but worth a look. if so, you'll need a spanner on one and socket on the other.

You probably just need a decent ring spanner or socket and it should come off. Sometimes I give the spanner a wack with a block of wood to loosen it initially. Seeing as it looks like you are in palmy come round and I'll help you out.

Becha the axle nut has been overtightened last time the tyre was changed by a rattle gun.Id use a socket and handle too loosen it. Ohh and sometimes slightly tightening the nut then loosening it off works

On either of my RG-150's there is no split pin or such like.

the nut is a 22mm from memory, and the other side is a 17mm

Last time I undid it, I needed a 2ft bar to pull on, I think it was rattle gunned up before that.

It is way easier to undo the nut when the bike is on the ground, not when its jacked up. (when its jacked up it moves around when you use a decent amount of force)
