Had my full many moons ago and had a GSX750 to boot. Trashed it got a hefty fine and my lisence removed for a year. Stuff happened for a couple of years before I decided to get my lisence back and only got my cage pass. At the time I never thought about my bike lisence, just sort of assumed it got put on there too. Then a couple of years after that got pulled over and pulled out my pass only to find I wasn't golden! Life and stuff and now FINALLY got my learners (never had to get a learners the first time). It's something like going backwards in time...

Full. For the time being anyway. Sooner or later that'll change. Probably the very first time I get pulled over/run off the road/spiked.
Did the CBTA as well, on my 400cc learner sportsbike.

I do believe that "licence" is equally acceptable.
Can't remember exactly when I got mine. Seem to remember that a considerable amount of luck was involved one way and another. Must've been about 1961 I guess.
(Yes children, they had motor bikes with blow-up tyres back then...)

Ha! Sounds like me (although I think I was actually 17 when I got mine) which I guess makes it 28 years ago... and it was about 6 weeks before our eldest daughter was born before I got my car licence. (Thought I should so Mrs Oakie didn't have to drive herself to the hospital when she went into labour)

I put in an application for the CBTA (Learner to Resticted) course at Passrite in Auckland on Monday. (Thanks to Sarge for his warning in another thread!)
I need to wait for the licence check and after that they will tell me if I get into the December or January course - most likely the January one.
That is, if you apply now, you might get in in time at Passrite. In my case I will shave 3 to 4 months off getting to restricted - and I welcome a bit of proper training along the way anyway.

I'm a learner... I thought about doing the CBTA thing... But unfortunately I haven't had an NZ license for 2 years... even though I have 4 car licences now from different places...
I'll probably end up doing the restricted fairly soon as I want to lose the massive yellow plate I always put on my bike at every opportunity but seems to fall off with alarming regularity:whistle:

Didnt realise there was a restricted bike licence, thought it went straight from learners to full. Had my full for 15 years, been riding 19 years. Cant even remember the bike licencing event, dont recall having to go for a test ride or anything, and if I did it would have been on my Norton 850 Commando or the Laverda SFC1000. I must have applied, and, well, there it is, on my drivers licence today, and feels good to have it too. Sort of a thing about being a chick on a big bike, kinda nice to pull it out and say, yea, the law says Im allowed to ride this:doobey:

I never used an L plate on my bike. I got pulled over twice, and neither cop noticed/mentioned it.
I reckon the period between licenses shouldn't be there, if you are competent enough to pass, you will. Otherwise the test is rubbish. Putting an arbitrary time limit between sounds like you get 18 mo experience, but if you ride every day or not at all you'll get totally different levels of experience.

I didn't get my car licence until I was 22 because I lived in Whakatane and it only took about an hour to get from one end of town to the other walking, and besides, I cycled everywhere!
I went for my bike licence the year they changed the system and I was regularly in the news for the hassles that happened to me, being one of the first to go through the new system. I ended up with a paper learner's licence that expired on May 35 1999 (yes, May 35!), a plastic learner's and full car (a mistake, it was AFTER I passed my restricted!) restricted bike, full car licence, and finally a full car, full bike licence! I spent hours in the queue at AA getting photos taken, forms completed, etc. and even when I passed my restricted licence I didn't get it for three weeks because of a glitch in their system. You have to hold your learner's for six full months before you can sit your restricted - but no one told me that, so I ended up sitting and passing my restricted before they could legally issue it! Their computers had been down all week so the anomaly hadn't been picked up until they tried to issue it. I sat my learners on November 25 1998 but booked to sit my restricted at the beginning of May 1999, so when they tried to enter the details in the computer, it wouldn't let them as I hadn't held my learners for a full six months! Thankfully, because it was their fault, they didn't make me sit it again three weeks later, but I didn't get my licence until then.

In Uh-merka, perhaps, but here the noun is "licence" and the verb is "license".
You may license someone to do something and issue them with a licence to prove they are licensed...
:hitcher:
Edit: Ach, others beat me to it, that'll learn me to read the thread through before replying!

Had my learners for 16 years and have only passed my restricted this year...
I’ve been told there is a pool running on how long I hold on to this one for!
There is a guy out there who has been on his learners for 22 years so he’s beaten me!
What’s the rush? You only need a 250 to sit your licence on...
