View Full Version : Auckland: Racing at Puke 10/11 Dec - Show your support!

Right everybody - here's your advance notice of the racing at Puke on 10 and 11 December so you can book it in your diaries. For those that aren't already involved in hands-on support roles, your attendance as a spectator will go a long way to helping our racers as well.

I know many of you get put off by the $10 (I think) fee to watch - but that is a miniscule amount when you compare it to a full days entertainment.

Perhaps someone could organise a KB ride to the track with a little detour around some of the scenic roads???

Come on people - lets support motorcyle racing in New Zealand and our own racing heroes from this site. We've got a fair few KBers who will be racing on this weekend (even some coming up from the South Island so this is a great opportunity to meet them). If those racing could let us know and advise which bike to look out for it would be helpful too.

Speedmedic and myself will be doing ambulance for the weekend so please come up and say hello to us too.

Looking forward to seeing a large KB contingent cheering all our racers on.

Sadly a few things have conspired against me going this year. One being the fact I start work at midnight on Sunday and two the coast to coast is on here on the Saturday. But could flag both of them as this looks like way more fun.

RIB: Yes, the Lawrance boys will be there. They're amazing on that 600!!

Not sure about the weather forecast.....hope the predictions of lots of heavy rain are wrong. Have my rain jacket and leggings packed in case they're right. Let's hope the money/time that's been spent on the track on all that drainage works....remember a couple of years ago they had to cancel racing on the Saturday because the front straight resembled a lake?

I arrived out there today to watch and to say hello....

I spotted Speedmedic and said Hi...
Then it was "Can you help?"
Sure can... and there I was out at Jennian Corner being a marshall....
I got nicely sunburnt out there....
Im glad that I threw in my hat at the last minute into my bag.

Afterwards I went off to find the chch bunch...
I did speak to Shawn and Jasan briefly as well.
Sorry TS I didnt get to see you....

I found out afterwards that Riff Raff had been on the back of the 13 sidecar..
so well done Riff Raff.... Its not something I would want to try to do....

So all up I had a great day.

First three qualifiers in the Superbikes were a good deal below the lap record. 600s were amazing.

But the stand out of the day for me was getting up close and personal with the Australian owned, LCR sidecar. The engineering and finish is like nothing I've ever seen before. Qualified 2 seconds below the lap record then in the race, just fucked off into the distance.

I went up to the boys and said - 'I understand you speak my language?'
Cool dudes - like me they couldn't understand everyone going on about the heat. It was only 27?!? - That's a nice WINTERS afternoon at Eastern Creek!
Sydney boys grizzle about wearing leathers at 37 degrees!

I was lucky enough to get some photo's of a couple of the yamy bikes when they put them out on the track for a small photoshoot, here's something i threw together last night for Daniel Ornsby,

I just ripped the logo's off the net or made them so they need to be bigger and the toolbar covers up the bottom of the pic on the right hand side but it came out pretty cool.

Thanks to all the KBers who made the effort to go to the racing. I didn't get to catch up with many as I was stationed at the hairpin a lot of the time, but I did see a few KB shirts floating around. To those KBers who put their hands up to do marshalling, well done. You all did a great job.

For those that didn't go, you missed some pretty spectacular racing.
