hey my RGV 250 i just got was stolen from the front doorstep of the Manukau Super Cheap Auto at around lunch time,it was locked up to the stock!! (i work there.)

i had just got it and redone nearly everything to go get it revinned, i had put a plate from my other bike (63UPL) so i could take it for a test ride, so explaining it to the cops was interesting. it has a fearly clean engine as i just cleaned it, repaired crash damaged on the right side, bent brake pedal, has no blade. if you looking at buying one check the vin!! mine was VJ22A113789

if anyone is offerd parts of a 1991 ask for the vin and check please, i had this for running for 4 days and had yet to take if of the clock i was looking forward to it so much

any help or news please tell me, no insurance!! was getting it when it was vinned next week, bastards!
im sure theres not that much RGV250N's running out there

Sad to hear about that. Just how was it "locked up to the stock"? Cable/chain etc. Just curious, as a secured bike is a lot harder to take - especially from a workplace.

sux, sorry about your bike, i work around there so i will keep an eye out
if i see it it should not be too much of an issue to catch up to it :)

thats shitty!! hate hearing of things like this! when i was living in Bristol (UK) this was something common i heard but it didnt really matter how locked up ya bike was, if someone wanted it they would simple get a few guys and chuck it in the back of a van.... wankers! :bash: maybe thats what happened to yours?

I know how you feel mate. Had TWO bikes stolen from my driveway a few months ago. We did get them back (albit smashed and crashed) Through a combination of people we know seeing them and relaying the info to the police.

So it is possible, best of luck finding your wheels.

thanks guys, it was locked to ladders with one of the thin coiled push bike locks (stupid me), im getting a fat chucky chain for my old (only) bike now, im also looking at making an alarm which has a few added features  like some metal plates on the grips hooked up to a small shocker so when activated shocks em and a few hidden surprises, legally done of course :blip:

im pretty sure they chucked it in a van, white tinted windows dogey, was seen hanging round before, also it needed to warm up (2-3mins) before riding other wise it just died. lock was poped, i found the parts on the ground

a few people have mentioned that some nice fast sports bikes have been seen around otara, and at the night drags, hopfully its not a trend, so get insurance and the fatest lock u can get

i only had it for 7 days  this was the first time i parked it up! makes me wonder, did they follow me?

heres another pic, main part is that fact its got no blade and the rear brake pedal is bent

thanks guys awsome respones keeps me that little bit sain knowing theres people on the look out

cheers

bugger, that sucks man! i was watching that auction too....
i dunno what you can do, but maybe ring round local wreckers and stuff to let them know in case someone tries to bring in a rgv for scrapping?

very bad luck, i'm always worried that someone's going to tryto nick off with mine, park it right infront of the security camera's at work etc

update, possible sighting in flatbush, may have been quickly sprayed with black spray paint, as the person who sore it said they could still see that it was blue but with a rugged paint job,

i rung up the cops, they remembered me with my um...the "unique" story that had been talked about among the station. she said it hasn’t been reported stolen yet!! i have to ring up the manukau station on Monday when they open again!!!

is this normal? stolen 3-4 days ago but not on the system?

a friend who had there cage stolen had a similar incident, there car had been stolen, she reported it, 2 weeks later she rings up to see what’s happening, turned out it hadn’t been loaded as stolen, and to top it off it had been stopped twice in that time and was later that day discovered it had been towed and was sitting in a car yard!!

now is this acceptable? we pay our speeding fines and they cant load things as stolen??

im not very impressed with this

well mate put it this way, the nz police computer system (or the ppl entering the info) is such a peice of shit, that i have had diversion 3 times and section 19 discharge without conviction twice.

also when i lost my license for racing a cop to about 165, when i got it back i was still on forbidden to drive in the police computer, every time i got pulled over for about 3 years after they gave me shit, caused me hassles.

the people who stole your bike have prolly swapped it for tinnies and its prolly at a tinnie house in flatbush / otara, and the tinnie house guys take it out for blats, if you spend the day driving around the back of otara/flatbush and you may just find it??

jesus dude, your very fucken lucky - I'm impressed, I know how you feel about the cops I filed a report - went back 3 weeks later, and they said it wasnt in the system, the cops cost me 3grand - thats why I happily will tell you that every fucken cop I see around town ends up trying to chase me, its just my way to say "thanks, fuck you, and have a nice day" - maybe you should consider this also?

Yeh cos we all know how much cops HATE being paid to chase people.

And lemme guess, your an amazing rider, you will never get caught, cops never get your rego plate, theres never any risk to anyone at all and its all worth it cos one cop screwed up a report.

yup, go ride your honda. and pay your taxes like a good boy.

and replace "screwed up" with NOT BOTHERING to file, I am not a good rider, dont care if I get caught, if I crash I will make sure that I hit something that will be fun dont worry :) - fucken live a little guy jesus - oh and who said I even had a licence plate?????

I am glad that you got the bike back! It is often seen that the bike gets badly trashed or is gone for good.
These pricks are complete scum. I hope your mates beat them something stupid before leaving the scene.

On a separate note, is there a way to secure your bike that it doesn't get nicked??
I have not yet had problems with this...luckily, and don't want to.

Oh yeah, and good idea listing it on here, seems that everyone keeps a pretty good eye out. Good to have the biker community on your side.
Also people tend to notice bikes, since everyone leeps an eye out for other riders when out and about.

my mates that went round and got it bac told me they exchanged "words" and a few egos where given a test. it was about 4-5 guys on each side, so a bash wud off ended up messy. he gave it up pretty quick from wat i hear, i guess he was scared shittless of the bike or riding or my mates, i can see thats its been droped, and slid for a while!! big thinner pacthers on my flarings

im making or modifying a alarm that dosnt require the key lock to turn it on, just a remote(maybe cellphone), similar to remote start I guess, if they do try to hot wire it the wires arnt connected to anything useful!, maybe a siren, or 10,000volts:nya: Also was thinking on stainless steel braided covering on the electrics so they can’t easily cut thru, anyone got wrecked braided brake lines? And a bit of GPS navigation to track it down after. Should make an interesting final year project for electrical engineering at uni:wari:

Lucky I have spear lock sets in my box of parts, just the rear brake pedal that I need to get/buy or bend back and a bit of cleaning and im back in working order

this site rocks, made me feel better knowing there’s people keeping an eye out

If it was me I would be happy to get it back in one piece but I bet the wanker that stole it will probably be looking for another one soon enough.I just hope I'm not the next victim.

Fantastic to hear eager, after hearing your story, I decided to pickup an alarm from Jaycar, "Steel Mate" only $84, imobilises, makes noise flashes indicators when bumped or key turned on, can remotely cut engine, flashing light on dash etc, spent the weekend installing it, put the immobilisation on the main ignition circuit but would like to get it so it cuts only the engine and not the main ignition as it cuts the headlight as well. Reminds you when you take a while to arm it too. Seems to work well.
Will let you know how well it works, will be testing it this week.
