View Full Version : MAYDAY MAYDAY.. MARINE DOWN!

SARGE

Yes im fine..

on the way to work on the NW this morning .. tooling along slowly ( wasnt splitting to much, and only about 5 km faster than traffic..) pulled into a pretty good sized gap that i had stumbled on in the #3 lane and started flowing with traffic....

next thing i nkow.. this #%^$#^@#$%&(#TY$^*(^&*(WE%Q#$^ BITCH in a sports sedan fires on her indicator and about 1/2 way into the first blink, shes 2 metres into my lane..

slick roads, lack of coffee and dumb luck..

yup.. you guessed it .. ***BLAM!!!*** down i go on my right side.. broken footpeg ( yet another great reason for solid mount pegs.. saved the Micron...), scuffed airscoop and upper fairing..

my knee is rashed ( very mild) as is my forarm ( THROUGH the armor.. coulda been worse..) BRAND NEW jeans survived unscathed though

big ups to MDU for pulling over and following me till he saw i was ok..

beer on me some night bro

Sorry to hear mate, bet the woman didn't even give a damn, sometimes I think it's safer to be between the lanes (splitting), the only time I've had any problems seem to be when your taking up a lane.

Glad to hear your OK.

It must be the morning for the ladies. I had one take a race line across two lanes on a left hander. The problem was, I was there.
I tried to point out the error of her ways at the lights, but she looked straight ahead and pretended to make a call, hoping the angry biker wasn't real. That's when I got real pissed off, but the lights changed before I could do a mirrorectomy.

Sorry to hear about your disagreement with the cage.

In light of the rash damage done to your leg and elbow (through the armour?), I would be interested in hearing what gear you were wearing at the time.

Were they 'normal' jeans and were you wearing anything else under your jacket?

Sarge, Glad you're OK man!

I think we can all take a lesson from this one - the christmas period is upon us and everyone will end up going crazy on the roads, so "let's be careful out there people"!

Another lesson comes from the "pay attention to the funny feeling" syndrome. If something dosen't feel right - it aint!
Did ya put one doggy on the neck and the other on the bootlace?

I've long admired your FJ Dallas, sorry it kissed the tarmac! Dropped my FJ last week playing silly buggers on the metal between Kawhia and Raglan staying ahead of my Adventure mounted buddies (laying her down was the lesser of two evils with the bank looming) should buff up again - just fixed up the left crankcover too!

Glad to hear you're OK and trust you can get her back to gleaming mint for us all to aspire to once again...

im gonna save this damage i think.. not worth claiming on the insurance and not really worth fixing as it's just a few scuffs.. just pissed me off is all..

" i didnt see you"

is becoming an excuse for knocking us off our bikes

i had my headlight modulator running.. hazard lights.. my pipe is damn loud..

how could she NOT see/ hear me?

fuckin retards..

(for all you who are wondering .. no it didnt affect the HP at all..(gave it a smack pulling of the NW onto Gt Nth and shes all right..kinda scary without a footpeg though...)

I think that so many of these cagers have blinders on when driving but also newer cars have better sound deadening and louder stereos so getting harder to hear us aswell. I have lived in auckland most of my life and I had fuc* faces trying to drive into me or pulling out infront of me etc and I used to drive a BRIGHT ORANGE mini so I feel your pain, even more so now that I have a bike. Glad to hear it wasn't bad and your alright. On a side note, its about time bikes came eqipped with super loud horns 1000db should do it!

Your twit at least had half an excuse - I mean, we're all guilty of blindness sometimes. I had some twit last week who did a lane change in front of me, no indicator, then got all bent out of shape when I left a boot print in his guard. And what did he say? "But I saw you". And yet he still hadn't figured out what the funny stalky thing on the side of his steering column was...

well the leg is stiffend up nicely from the whack on the kneecap.. shoulder is a bit on the sore side but all is good... trailering the FJ home this arvo to refit the stock pegs so i can at least get to work..

kids .; be carefull out there .. i have been riding to over 30 years and i consider myself a pretty good rider (know yourself and know your bike..) and i got caught out hardcore.. coulda been MUCH worse, but as it is, the prang took my mint bike and made it un-mint ( for now.. last time it was off the road, it went from 90 RWHP to well over 90 RWHP.. early days...)

thanks for the concern and all the bling ( im trying to kick Pyro's ass in bling so keep it coming ... lol)
