I'm not a stunt person,I'm one of those old farts who reckon you've got good control with 2 wheels on the ground - but if the front wheel comes up or I step it out then that's just part of the riding experiance....I don't do it on purpose, except I'm kinda pushing it when it happens.Off road it's part of what you do,no stunting - it's how you ride.

Nearly all your stunts are derived from trials riding, you can't ride a trials bike unless you can master these basic skills - so I thought you might like to look at this demo by Tommy Ahvala, the bike is just an extension of his mind and body. It's just a demo, but all the things he's doing are done in top level trials,if you haven't got this sort of mastery over your bike then you are going nowhere.http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=25140322355139958&q=trials Sorry dial up users,it's 15 mins of video.

Trials takes a special amount of skill don't it? Isn't there a national Trials school in Nelson or summat? I saw an article on the news about it not that long ago. I've never been able to get my head around how these guys can ride up to a vertical face and then just ride over it, that's skill

All skills can be learned....although there are trials riders who have been riding trials for 25 years without mastering just the basics - I won't be doing my next demo in these low level skills until next year, better book now!

that's some good talent right there.. just the balance alone. I'd love to have just half of those skills, but that's what practice does.

I have learnt to wheelie, half cos in the right place, it can look pretty cool, but also when I'm on the road or track, and it happens, I know what's going on, instead of shitting myself and getting into trouble. Also taught me about tank slaps and the like. Now I just get on with it instead of having to back off..

This is a pretty cool vid

I learnt to wheelie as balance practice for MX,along with stoppies(which i can't seem to get on a roadbike)rolling burnouts and pushing the front wheel along locked up (try that on the road....)

Can't argue with trials. Excellent sport and I competed for quite a few years but nothing beats a stunting a big road bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
