Wednesday december 14. A ride around the port waikato / onewhero area. Leaving Les Batkin reserve (by the bridge) at Midday (1200hrs). Ride would suit those with adventure bikes or those on road bikes with the necessary skills. Some of the route has deep gravel. A majority on tight narrow winding rough bumpy corrugated gravel roads. A bit like heaven only better! Come along and see some parts of the country you may not have seen before. Ride lenght approx 150kms and around 2-3 hours. So who's keen?? Andy.

Ok so far we have Andy (XT), Cary (XT), and Rogson (XF650 Freewind)

Who else is coming?? Just call in sick - you know you want to!

Here's a map to les batkin reserve. It's on SH22 so you've all probably ridden past it without even knowing what it was called.

This week is stacking up to be V busy... My 'maybe' is 'I'd really really like to make it', but.. more likely to be a 'pretty unlikely'.
Things could change mind, so I wont give up completely.

Big Dave (possibly).
Andy.

Maaaaate - I've shagged the back tyre on the Buell - 5,000km - and I'm having a spot of trouble replacing it.

No Dunlop 616's (standard equip) in NZ till new year - New model and all and I've caught them a bit short wearing it out in under a month.

So now Motohaus is on the case for the Avon alternative. But I'm not going to be right for tomorrow. next one.

Hope it goes well.

Ahhh - you get that - I'll live.
They were 5,000 pretty hard k's and i'm happy to stick the std rubber back on. Just that supply hasn't filtered to the outer antipodes yet.

There is an Avon motard tyre available in the interim. That sounds like fun. I'm guessing 3000km if i'm lucky.

Hiya - saw you on Monday afternoon in east tamaki - near the shell on Ti Rakau Drv, near Trugood heading back to work - I was the guy on the black CBR250 who turned around and waved at ya. What you doin with an open face helmet :nono: ??

I wish I had a dirt bike - would love to go on some off road rides.

We only get 5-6000K's out of knobbies on the XT's also. Heading towards 8000 on a Kenda K270 but doesn't give me confidence on wet tar. Lights up the rear on the flushing quite bad compared to the Vee Rubber VRM147 that was in before. Must be that awesome amount of HP (45HP :killingme ).

Missed you sorry - unlike me to be self absorbed.

I usually wear an open face. A Davida Jet - beautiful helmet.
Today I teamed it with a tee shirt, fingerless gloves, leather jeans and sturdy boots. I managed to survive that like the million or so km (literally!) before it.

I only wear the full face for sports or high risk stuff.

You should try it - 100kph in an open face on a naked bike and it feels like you're going really, really fast - you can just smile and wave at the highway patrol going the other way.

Plus it *feels* like I'm outside on a bike.

Love the dirt thing. we'd just been powersliding our way up to the top of the hunuas again
