My car is with state and it's got 60% discount, but my bike with AMI has only got a 40% discount. Neither set of wheels have had a claim made against them and my insurance history is clean and excellent.

Why does the bike have a lower discount than the car?

Simple. A bike "apparently" has a higher chance of crashing or being damaged than a car. Also with ACC costs ect.

Its common practice too have a lower discount on the bike.
AMI have a max of 40%. Not sure what the others have but probably very similar.

Normally insurance companies offer no more than a 40-45% no claims bonus on bikes, but will offer up to 60% on cars.

With that information at hand, when I paid my dues they told me the same story.
