this is one of the best i've seen in trademe seller delusion.
a $6000 gas tank - and that's not even the reserve!
now, i know that the CB1100R has a cult following (and is a sweet biike)
but come on.....

If someone is restoring one of these awesome machines then I reckon they would pay that for it, esp if it was missing or in bad nick. CB1100R’s are worth a mint and prices will only continue upwards.
Now, how much would a complete brand-new fairing fetch???........

Honda OEM parts can cost an horrific amount. A muffler for my CBR was going to cost $850

I have doubts about the RRP suggested for 2001 considering when i bought a complete OEM CBX1000 6 into 2 exhaust in 1983 the cost was around $1000 which was RRP minus 25%.Good luck to whoever is selling the CB1100R fueltank, perhaps a start of $1800 might get a bid. From my experiance of Trade Me you simply will not get those kind of big prices as a rule,US Ebay is another story.

I seem to remember the RRP on a RC45 fueltank being over AU$5000.

$1200 for a VFR750 muffler, and $1300 for the main fairing bracket.
I think the fact "Dottie" is a new seller won't help. He/she would've been better to sign up on eBay if they want big money.

The same parts off Ronayers in the US.. Muffler 1994/97 VFR750..NZ$508..1990/93..NZ$422...Main fairing bracket..NZ$374.... which still shows the retailers here are milking the exchange rate + a percentage on top of that.
Just to put that into another perspective,2 rubber inlet manifolds for a RC51/SP2..Ronayers $76..from a shop in Barrys point road,$180...Plan B was to get a pair of manifolds plus the 4 clamps (over $100 here) off a super low milage SP2 from a reliable Ebay seller i had delt with before..cost NZ$74.60 airmailed....did i mention i love Ebay.

Yeah, I already knew that. Even buying parts via Australian Honda dealers is cheaper, and quicker than buying them here. But buying via the Interdweeb is good alright. A.P.E. camchain tensioners (CCT) for a VTR1000 are $US49.95 each, but the agent here wanted $150 each. Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is ~$300 from Honda. I bought a brand new TPS and two CCTs for less than $300, shipped, from a guy in the UK.
And then there's things you can't buy here, like my FactoryPro Evo Star shift kit. By the time postage (about $US15-20) and farkn Visa charges for foreign exchange (why? Their farkn computer takes care of it, doesn't it?!?!) are taken into account, I think I was up for around $350 or so. But it took only a week to get here, and it was all done with a few mouseclicks.
Easier than buying stuff from the Shark Bros in Barry's Point Road, and having to pay for everything up front, and wait 3 -5 weeks for it to turn up. Wankers.
By the way - FIVE BAZILLIONTH POST.

Those things would be hell hard to source anywhere, and the bikes have a "legend" status. But still....... 6k for a tank, thats a bit steep.

Ha funny you were 1st in line MDU, but realistically ok yep that is an ridiculous price for a fuel tank, but if there was a completely mint CB1100R ( preferably the RB ) it would be worth a shitload of coin. theres a few RC & RD models floating around the place but not many RBs. and remember the CB1100R was the bike that caused the cc cap on Racing in Aussie back in 83 and was hell expensive to buy new anyhow.
It's the bike that set Wayne Gardner on his way too ( Mentor cycles 6hr endurance racer)

I ve had a play round on the rb, great bike to ride makes a stock bike feel like a bag of jelly, I couldnt give it welly as it was here in Japan I rode it
It hated the new gas, had to wind back the timing to stop the pinky monkeys
As for that tank , I know you could get exhaust pipes from onda . as I dropped a new one and dented it , so replaced it ...( bad hair day that one !!)
so one assumes tanks are still floating around,,,, 6k ...Hmmmmmmm
