Well my FJR's finally in the country, now I just gotta get my hands on it. Thought I would probably get it tomorrow but the freight company tells me today that MAF want to inspect it so it looks like Friday at the earliest and maybe Monday, god i hope not.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE INVOLVED IN THE INSPECTION!!! Be there to make sure they get the correct VIN# for it. Otherwise you will have heaps of trouble later on when it coes to getting it registerd.

Wot Waylander said! Try to be there if at all possible!
He/she will go over the bike with a flashlight, shining it everywhere - if he picks up stuff under your mudguards, tell him it's UK roadsalt; otherwise they'll charge you for a 'steam clean'.
When you get it VIN'd, stick to your guns about the "brake test". Only bikes manufactured AFTER 02/03 need the test, weird as it seems. (It's all on the LTSA site). Also, make sure the new 'serial number plate' doesn't get riveted on somewhere ugly & in plain view, like they did to me...muppets.
Good luck with it all....!

Make sure you go over it with a fine tooth comb for signs of damage it might have picked up during transit/storage. Don't leave the yard without getting acknowledgement if there is damage. Take a digital camera as well just in case. You can't be too carefull with these companies. Good luck with it all. Won't be long before you have it cleared, registered and on the road.

So when does the VTX arrive?
God knows, and he ain't telling. It was suppose to be 15th then I got an email saying delayed to 18th but the search on the shipping number still says 15th so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If it's the 18th I don't think I'll have it for christmas which will really piss me off, if it's the 15th I may get it before christmas but it'll still be close. It's the one we wanted to go down to taupo on for Christmas.

When the day comes Im not plowing every spare penny into a race bike (or two) Ill be lookin to buy one for certain.
The blue looks darned stunning.
Although I think Ill go for a silver one--sounds silly but silver looks sorta copish and so for a minlisecond the cagers might see ya.

Thanks for all the interest and compliments and advice everyone. MAF inspections booked for 8.30am Monday, all being well the bike is to be delivered to me that afternoon. Monday night will be uncrating and getting it together and running, Tuesday morning probably attempt to get testing, certifications and registrations done. Fingers and toes crossed. After all that the fun starts.
Keep you posted.

Well I've actually seen and touched it. I went out to Mangere this morning for the MAF inspection and everything looks in order. Damn it's a magnificent looking machine. Included is a very cool looking helmet, too small for my big head but it should fit my partners boys, tank bag and other soft luggage, the usual hard panniers, a custom cover and a larger windshield. It's suppose to be delivered to me here at home this afternoon some time, can't wait. Let the fun begin.

YOU KNOW THEY CHARGE YOU BY THE KILO WHEN YOU BRING IN A BIKE , WHY DIDNT YOU BRING IN 2 GOOD ONES LIKE AN R1 AND A GIXXER , IT WOULDA COST YOU LESS IN FREIGHT , AND THEN YOU COULD SELL ONE TO PAY EXPENSES AND STILL HAVE A MUCH BETTER BIKE THAN THE ONE YOU IMPORTED

I guess if i was a lonely nigel with no mates and only wanted to go fast and not far then what you suggest might be a good idea but since none of the above apply in my case I believe my choice of bike to be one of the best. Thanks for the suggestion though.:thud:
Oh by the way, if you delve a little deeper you'll find I am bringing in more than one bike but still nothing you would approve of I'm sure.
