View Full Version : Rant about Ranting

don't you hate it when you want to rant about something that REALLY pissed you off... but you can't because you know the people who understand (KB or rather bikers in general) are closely related (friendship wise) to the person/s you wish to rant about?
Grrrr :bash:

Rant about fictional situation things that may or may not be related to the person in question.
Or go talk to/email/text/call that person?

Nope not really. Got an issue with someone.. then tell them (politely)... if ya can't do that.. then I reckon ya dont really have a 'right' to rant about 'em...
just my opinion..... =)
as you were

lol it's a small little community we have here... no matter how I tried to change it, it would be obvious who I was talking about... and I'm not nessesarily (sp) pissed about the person... but rather the service... or lack thereof... or both...
Lets just put it this way... my rims... once nice and shiney... are now scratched and thats the smallest part of why I'm pissed...

Well if ya had a service.. and your bike was damaged because of this service.. then you'd think you'd either get a sincere apology.. or a discount!
Talk to them.. if they dont 'own' up then talk to their manager.. simple.. Just keep it professional! thats all I say =)

You received poor service, do us a service and warn us [Nice to see you placid:2thumbsup ]

Darlin' if it's a service issue (and no doubt treatment) then go see the person/place in question and have it out with them as Wolf says politely (goes a hell of a long way) BUT if you don't have any joy talk to someone who you trust and have confidence in. Someone who is knowledgeable. Best thing is to get these things sorted early.

lol don't worry it wasn't you! I don't think I've ever seen that particular person post on here, but that person is refered to by a lot of KBers. I just wasn't happy with the service, and the outcome of the service I recieved, nor the amount that I paid for the shitty service...

Just let it out, if they can't deal with it, then thats their problem.
It's not good to hold shit in!!

no, I'm not gonna name names, I'm just pissed bout it, and won't go back there. This rant wasn't about the shitty service, it was about not being to rant about that (confusing I know)...
The dude is a good guy in the sense of friendliness, but I found the work not too great, maybe I was just a one off, because I've never heard anyone else complain about it... and I know I'll ruffle a lot of feathers, and I'd rather not...

if this WAS a once off, don't you think perhaps this person would PREFER you told him .. so he could fix it? wouldn't YOU if it were you in a similar position?
why not give him the opportunity? you could both benefit....

What, like to a Buddhist elder or something?
What's really annoying is that I want to rant about not being able to rant and now you've already done that so it's stolen my thunder... arse....
(thunder arse? ... Hmmm)
But on a more serious note, it is a difficult situation that you are in. I'd be inclined to mention it in passing when you are around the dude in question and say "Shit man - do you have anything that can get scratches out of rims? cos when it went in for the service I didn't notice it, but when it came back I did, and I need to get it sorted...."
Or something - don't blame the dude, but let him know that you know what happened... Frankly though people that mess up my bike need a good :eyepoke:

Scratching unblemished rims is no joke. Confront him/them, ask what they'll do about it.
If the answer is not to your satisfaction, then post details.
Other members aren't shy about naming names.

But get your facts right before naming names...make sure you are blamless before laying blame.Perhaps you could invite the other party to put their side on this site too....I'm sure there is another side here, and I want to hear it....

I have a suspicion (perhaps having been there myself) that I know exactly what Placid the Femme is on about, and perhaps even who, and the frustration this engenders. Like, the rims were obviously not deliberately scratched, and therefore would moaning about them make you appear to be a bigger arsehole than the person who's (allegedly) scratched them was for (allegedly) scratching them?
But yet, the fact remains that the rims are now scratched, and getting them unscratched is a costly option.
What to do... What to do...
mstriumph
9th December 2005, 14:44
but surely it's not ABOUT being an arsehole? i mean, no-one is seriously suggesting that the damage was done deliberately or maliciously are they? it's merely a question of getting it put right and, logically, the person who ought to do that is the person responsible for the damage in the first place?

It would piss me off totally if some shop did that to my new bike. Scratched rims make an otherwise tidy bike look like crap.

Are you saying my bike looks like crap? [aggressive fighty thingo here]
It probably does now that it has a scratched rim AND a dent in the tank, the latter courtesy of me dropping a length of hardwood dowling on it.:slap:

back on topic. yeah it does suck when you want to rant but you cant without basically looking like a shit stirrer.

I think that this thread is pointless. If someone has done something wrong then you have to have the balls (pun) to talk to whoever it is responsible. Most of the people I know in business would rather sort out a problem than have it snowball into a big pile of preverbial. You have created quite a stirr, it would appear and as mentioned before, there are two sides to the story. Sounds like you have not yet taken it up with the person(s) responsible. Sounds like you have also had plenty of time to do it, so unless your going to do the right thing, don't expect too much simpathy from me. There is a right way and a wrong way to go about this and I feel that this is the wrong way.

Yeah, it sucks big time! I belong to a few different forums and I sold a book to one forum member and she paid for it within days. She then wanted to buy some other books I had for sale so I sent them to her last month and never got paid. Sent her an email and she said she'd forgotten and would pay me last week. Then she posts this big sob story about how her and her partner are $30,000 in debt and facing bankruptcy. I figured I wasn't going to get my money anyway so I told her not to bother paying for them. Got an email back saying "hasn't the money come through? I paid it into your account last Thursday. I hope I haven't paid it to the wrong person. They'll be happy if I have - sorry!" Bloody cow! What annoys me the most is that I said the payment would be passed on to the SPCA (as have the proceeds from the other books I've sold), so she's done them out of $20.

Well to answer a few questions, no I havn't confronted the person involved... as some of you know, I'm not too good at keeping my temper, and I have a bad way with words... I wouldn't know how to approach the situation without it sounding like I was being aggresive...
"hello, you scratched my rims and I'm pissed... and you didn't gie me what I asked and paid for"... doesn't sound very nice, and if this said person got thier back up at me, I'd just get more angry and nothing would be solved...
I'm just pissed that my bike looks a lot more standard now, and it looks scratched (moreso than normal... yeah yeah I know its a women thing... but I like my bike to look good)...
As mentioned I'm not going to do business with said person again, I doubt he will/could re-paint my rims (for what could be classed as a "few" scratches... but form perfect rims to scratched rims no less), the other problem is sorted and the third and forth problems can only be sorted by buying new parts, which I'd rather pay for somewhere else as I've been informed that the parts won't sell for the same price I brought them for even though I've done less than 200K's since the job was done.
blah...
