Wgtn-Taupo Sat Dec 17th - The Long Way

Hey All...MoFunthanmost and I are planning to ride up to Taupo on the Saturday (17th Dec) and take the slightly longer route...make a day of it.

This is a ride to attend the Kiwibiker Trackday

Suggested routes are either:
1. Wgtn-Bulls-Wangavegas-Paraparas-Raetihi-Taumaranui(ish)-Western Lake Taupo-Taupo.
2. Wgtn-OngaOnga-Hastings-Napier-Taupo

All speeds catered for. I cruise at around $1.00+GST, any faster will just have to wait every once in a while :).

I'm heading up to taupo on the 17th....through hawkesbay....so I could join the band wagon....once I'm in the bay I'll be stopping at me moms for a few hrs though.

nope...my mom as a anxity disorder...she has problems around unfamiliar people...But I can recomend a good cafe in havelock north...and meet up with ya's again there and I could take you guys arond the tukituki loop and then to napier along the coast...?

Cowp - thats cool. My mother is the same...not fun for her huh? I have a family that I wanna catch up with in Hastings so depending on numbers (one or two extra) they could just hang with me...theyll just have to deal with boistrous kids :).

Hey skel! Paraparas and national park way sounds good to me. Was gonna head up that way at about 10-12 and just take my time with a few stops along the way. Still only running on 3 cylinders so ya should be able to keep up eh?

That was an option...kinda depends on wether we go with the poos-man. We could go up Hastings way and come back through the PP's?

We might have to choose our route based on weather too :).

My bike would harderly piss off the most hardent environmentalist so cant promise anything. Mo is a bit offensive but then it depends on which way the wind is blowing.:)

He's REAL sensitive- can't cope with even the lowest volume of noise-anything louder than a whisper and he's on to noise control... make sure you bring lotsa mates! Better still, remove your baffles just around the corner-that should do the trick!

Ha ha - no actually I am looking for an occasion to take it a bit further than the usual Wairarapa trip. Its just that I have several things on that weekend (including wk xmas do) and I am juggling the priorities. The weather may be a deciding factor. Will probably make the decision at the last minute.

have we decided the route?? as I'm going HW2/HW50 regardless...
if we are...I propose we meet at mobil featherston....at about 9:30/10:00 and roll...stop at pahiatua for ciggy leg stretch...then dannevirke...hastings/havelock nth through the tuki/tuki loop...along the coast to bayveiw BP...taupo!!

I don't mind leading...I propose a cruizing speed at around 110kmph...and all silly riding will be servely repremanded by skelstar...who we will nominate as camp mom :blip:

Looks like rua, Mofun, rfc85 (maybe), Vaseline (maybe), and you. So 3 250s, a CBR400 running on three cylinders, an 800, and a Gixxer that has 500cc more than he needs :). Im sure well all be fine for straight line riding. Well just haul up and regroup if anyone drops off.

Yeah fair enough. Come to think of it we will be departing Taupo late Sun avo anyway. Still plenty of time this summer to ride the Paraparas :). I want to do a trip up over there and back through the Awakino gorge sometime. Very cool.

I'll keep an eye out for which way you guys end up going. Depending on when I get off work and which way you end up going I may meet u part way as im in Taumarunui at the mom. Prob just do a ride with you and head back this way then back to taupo on sun as dnt have and accomodation there. But if I can get off work ill be on the bike regardless.
