anyone know the reserve distance on a GN250 petrol tank.

Got about 135ks outta the main tank... how far is he going to get on reserve before it dies?

Cheers.

depends how hard you ride and what angle of ground youre riding on...why it can't take fuel from both sides front and back of tank i dunno

cus then hills wouldnt matter :slap:

My wife has a GN250 and the book reckons the reserve is 2 litres. I'd like to know what the total tank capacity is cos it's not mentioned?! Anyone know? Jap book is very vague.

Just found it in a brochure on the web: 10.3 litres total capacity.

May want to have the bike serviced or ease off the twisty thing a bit more there Weasel. Your burning the same amount of fuel as my 1150 does around town!:whocares:

FWIW my old 82 GN did around 180 km on the standard tank and would probably touch around 50km on the reserve tank. It touched on 90MPG on a trip from Auckland to Wellington. I had geared the bike up by a tooth on the front sprocket, so it wasn't running standard gearing though.

To the nearest petrol station, of course :innocent:
Hope that helps

The tank on a GN250 is 10lt ( Including 2lt reserve ) - I currently get around 200 - 230 out of the 8lt ( pre reserve ) so you might want to look at where your fuel is going, cause it might not be getting in the engine!

According to my recently acquired workshop manual, 10.3l Including the reserve.

That is of course if you were to include the very top area which is left unfilled, then yes. Operationally though, it is a 8+2.

What?

As often as not, quoted capacities are theoretical and somewhat inaccurate.
If you really want to know the true capacity, why don't you fill the tank up, put the bike on the centre stand, then disconnect the fuel line and put a couple of feet of 6mm tubing on the fuel tap. Now turn the tap to "On" and drain into a plastic measuring jug (a litre at a time). Then when it runs out, start measuring how much comes out on reserve.

Sounds too much like hard work to me, on the ZXR400 I knew I had around 200km on a full tank before I hit reserve, how much reserve was? I was too chicken to find out, but I did get caught out on SH1 once and had to run about 30kms on reserve before I found a petrol station, so it's not too bad.

The gixxer has some weirdo light that comes on, flashes fast, then slow, then solid, then starts morse code telling me to pull over, I'll never understand it!

I'm with the others who say "What the heck are you doing to your GN??"

The earliest I've ever had to switch to reserve was 213 kms and I was still getting over 30km/l....

I've made it to 242 on reserve before. I average around 32 km/l and normally make it to the 225 mark before I have to fill. And then it takes just over 7 L. I think I would get at least 30 kms from my reserve, but I don't know what you'd get from yours!

Well I've not done anything to it in quite some time now, note the date on the top post ;)

i was able to get 262k/tank on my 06, and then had 20k reserve on top of that.

D'oh! I did wonder, since your profile doesn't list a GN...but I didn't notice the date.

Oh well....
