stupid plastic breaks so easily. for some reason my front brakes are really vicious, recently had the pads replaced, but that was 2 months ago, locked the front wheel 3 times today, on gravel going <20k thankfully, not 80 down the main road, and the front plastic is all broked. :angry: Anyone know why this may be happening? probably have to replace the whole frontish fairing. I like naked bikes now, stupid plastic so expensive and crappy and breakable and weak and spraypainted and.... grr. If you have a spare front green 99 fxr fairing lying around, give me a price. How much would it cost new?

Dont use your front brakes when on gravel, thought the first 2 times you locked up you might have gotten the idea?
You want your front brakes to work well as they tend to do most of the work when stopping.
Bugger about the drop
Plastic shouldn't cost you that much to fix.... its the painting thats the real killer.

i didn't use the front brakes, im guessing the wheel just locked up (didn't even touch either brake), cause it just totally dropped on me, no warning, no fishtail, no leaning involved, just like both tyres were suddenly sittin on ice.

Is your front disk warped? ... Both tyres locked up?

Gravel at less than 30 is shed load harder than gravel at 40+...
going at a decent speed you kinda surf over it. slower and you start to dig in and become at the mercy of the position of any stone larger than a golf blall.

If you insist on riding off the paved path then try a dual purpose bike, they can be awsome fun and as a bonus... the have very little plastic to smash and when you drop them the only thing you have to fix is horizontal to vertical.

Don't let gravel get you down, it is really quite good fun once you get the hang of it... and when did you ever see a speed cop on a gravel road?

Same thing with me, the bike decided to have a lie down on some gravel:zzzz: ...Quite a good slide even if I say so myself. I am trying to repair my fairings at the moment. Just keep all the bits and have a go at repairing them your self.you got nothing to lose.
