Righto, thought I'd organise another of these big ride things. First one since April last year in fact.
Meeting at AB Papakura at 1am. Ride will be to Bombay and back via the motorway.
Hopefully none of you cunts will fall off.
See ya there.
Edit: Because of the technical nature of this group ride, it's been suggested that we re-group at the Ramarama off ramp so as people don't get lost and confused.
Edit 2: CANCELLED DUE TO SLIPPERY AND UNPREDICTABLE CONDITIONS

No worries with the cops mate. This ride is only for perfectly behaved, 1st rate citizens. In fact, I think I might invite some.

Another rule: You MUST wave at all other bikers. Even the ones you're riding with. If you don't, you'll forever be hassled and shunned from this site.
While we're on that, you better be wearing EXACTLY the right gear. If I see a single jandal or missing piece of stiching from your kit, you'll be eighty sixed quick smart.

will the ride be divided into speed group?
How much for the entry?
Do we need to bring stuffed toys too?
Any photographers or video recording?
Will there be checkpoints with clues along the motorway? Getting lost there would be a hassle for the whole ride, y'know?

It's a bit past my bedtime but i'll be there, word has it there's some loose gravel 2.48km from the bombay off ramp south bound, Brett will cone and sign post affected area, and speed will be limited to 30kph, could've been nasty otherwise.

Are they sharp corners - I really don't like sharp corners.
Or corners with bumpy bits on them - in fact I think they're worse than sharp corners. Only worse thing would be sharp corners with bumpy bits on them.
Will it be dark - I wouldn't like to go out in the dark either. especially if there are sharp corners with bumpy bits on them.
Is it ok if I stay at home and panic about the road conditions from there? Falling out of bed is much less painful than falling off the bike on a sharp bumpy corner in the dark...

Jeez, WT, if only I'd seen this thread last night when I was polishing my, umm, err, bike. I would have gladly trailered my bike up to this monumental event. Oh, but don't worry, I would have stopped every hour on the hour for at least ten minutes rest so I wasn't overtired when then ride commenced.

Y'need to set up a noise meter at the start and check that all exhausts are less than 60dB. And some scrutineers to check that all bikes that are supposed to be restricted are still restricted. Better still, get one of the site electrotechies to whip up some restricters so that noone can go faster than 100kph (better make it 90 to be on the safe side)

WT: i have notified LTSA's road working contractors currently working around the papakura area. They will have the road coned off to single lane on motorway, so as to avoid any undertaking or overtaking issues. They will also have spotlights placed every 10m, along the ride route, so that there is no danger of anyone being unable to see where they're going.
I have contacted Protecta Safety, and they have agreed to sponsor us with fluro vests.... WIMA can make up the short fall.
Also, OSH are going to conduct a safety inspection of the route tomorrow at 1pm. see, sometimes being a H&S professional comes in handy :2thumbsup

I think with all these fantastic safety measures, we have still missed something. There is the potential for someone to fall over from going to slowly (as if we would believe that excuse anway).
If someone fell over, they could cause a huge crash, hurting lots of people. We had better add some "supporters" to the sides of our bikes to make sure

the inspection has been arranged for 12 hours preceeding the ride - to enable any corrective actions to be implemented, and give the dept the opportunity for re-testing, and sign-off.
the dept will also be checking the SWL's of any welding or modifications that have been done to motorcycles - trainer wheels included. Have certification handy people.

It's ok folks. I got a highly trained team of therapists, in today to help WT work through his issues of riding in rain, and the devastation he has caused so many by cancelling this ride. It took several emotional hours of exploring his feelings until we managed to trace it back to a past life experience involving a goat, moth and, um... something that really shouldn't be spoken about in public. He's taking it in small steps - right now he's wearing his riding gear and making tentative steps outside every time we get a few spots of rain. His target today is to stay out in it for a full 10 seconds. Hopefully it won't be long before he can reschedule this monumental ride. Stay tuned folks.

maybe motohause can support us too. we need at least an on site mechanic or ten.

Heellll no! Those turbo's are dangerous and cause all manner of accidents (at least if you ask the ins. co.'s) I aint going near this type of ride unless someone will assure me there will be NO turbo's
What if i remove 2 cylinders to make space for a turbo?? Does that count?
