Every day i see a bike ride past and I still havent figured out what it is.
Its stickered yamaha --RZR
Its a naked bike with single headlight
Its definitely a 2 stroke --its got 2 pipes stacked on top of one another on one side out the back.
power valve yamaha motor. Traditional trellis frame ruled out a tzr
fzr600 type 4 pot calipers and floating disks up front

Any ideas guys n gals ??

Yamaha made a naked version of the RZ250 back in the late 80s, can't remember the model ID but they were single h/light & the ones i've seen were predominantly blue ( blue tank & side panels ) with black engine & frame.
they came out just before the TDR version (dual purpose thingy)

ooohhhhhhhhh. I LiKE that. Don't suppose they ever made a bigger version ? 350cc ? 500cc ? (750 - ahh dreams )

Why are almost all the two smokers so SMALL. What's wrong with a 1200cc two stroke ?

Yes, they made a 350 in that same shape, but the original RD 2 strokes had their own engine, that bike has an RZ engine in it, and those stingers are pretty sexy. That was my first bike, so many fond memories. I think the bikes we iidentify as RD's also came out wearing RZ stickers, and vice versa. In the early 90's we got some blue/yellow RD's, which were new, so its all over the show really, but show that picture to 99% of bikers, and they'll call it an RD250LC

Next up from that in 2 smoke in Yamaha is the RZ500 (steel frame) or RZV500 (ally frame), and that was a bike of wet dreams too, available for drooling here http://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mctext/rzstory.html

Frosty, is this the bike? http://www.rd350lc.net/1AR1-84side.jpg

nope guys diddnt look anything like that
Its an early 90's bike- bodywork is more cbr400 aero ish and the stingers look like the RGV250 style -the one with 2 pipes out one side. it definitely uses the tzt250 power valve motor.

Its nothing at all like a RZ250/350 to look at --even the earlier handlebar mounted headlight version -
Ida sworn it was a one off special but it looks to factory stock with all the parts

I saw a cool bike that sounded similar in Wellington about ten years ago. It was only a 200cc cingle though. Had a sexy trellis frame, upside downs, real racy, naked styling.

Can't for the life of me remember what the hell it was.

Frosty, there is only one thing for you to do ...

You have to pull the dude over on the motorway and ask him what the bike is.. Take a pic of it and post it up here so that we can all see.

Or follow him until he stops and take a pic of it and ask him what the hell is that bike.

OK, heres a Yamaha RZR, it may have an aftermarket exhaust on it to have twin pipes on one side.
Oh, and WT, the bike you may have seen could have been a Yamaha SDR200 as pictured.
