View Full Version : Did Madboy do the runner?

It's well known that I'm a strong advocate for the f***offski approach to minimising infringements. Well last night I roll up to an intersection on the way home. I give way to the car on my right, then I proceed through the intersection, taking a cursory glance to the uniformed patrol car that is crossing from my left. The two officers are glaring at me. The one in the passenger seat almost does a complete 360 of his head looking at me while they do a loop around the roundabout to follow the car behind me.

Hmm... well in my book it's one thing to have a QVR done and your address obtained, it's quite another to have the cop actually know where that place is. So I take the first left. It would appear that I might have been travelling a little bit quicker than the car the police car was following. Then I take the next right. And the next right, and the 3rd left, and the next right... you can see where this is going. All the meantime, I'm never doing more than 50-60k while the police car has any line of sight on me. Not that I would ever speed with the police around anyway :devil2: So here I am, down the back of some completely random streets, about to turn right and head home, and this police car comes screaming into the street a few hundred metres back with the red and blues going.

That's nice I thought, he must be off to a job, so I tootled off down a few more side streets and in a roundabout sorta way ended up at home. With no Commodores in tow.

Now, am I a bit paranoid in thinking that maybe these coppers wanted to have a chat with me?

Presumably if you werent going more than 50-60 and they were blue lighting down the street you were on at one stage, then they would have caught up with you?

SimJen
16th December 2005, 08:11
Probably late for their donuts.
Or you weren't being chased. They think nothing of doing 100+ in town to catch up with menacing motorcycles doing barely over the limit.
Whats more dangerous, a 1.5tonne car doing 100km/hr+ or a 200kg bike doing 60......

you gotta wonder if they really have anything else better to do. Funny enough i got pulled over last night in my bloody driveway, was doin 74 in a 50, i had a 2hundy meter head start but i had just left the tyre shop with a brand new set so 10km scrub in wasnt worth the risk, otherwise i woulda gapped it for sure. he only did me 4 14km over so the ticket was only $120 so not to bad.

Of course, the theory is that the piii... police are well trained in the fine art of hooning a commodore around town and can do it with little additional risk. Not sure how this pans out in practice, but I'm pretty sure that's the excuse anyway.

I thought you didn't give a shit? Why do care that they want to have tea and bikkies with you? What do you care if they follow you 'round? It's not that I gave a shit, I just thought it was friggin hilarious that I got away without doing anything dodgy. Usually you have to do something at least kinda dodgy... Although usually I'm doing something kinda dodgy to start the ball rolling. This time I figure they mighta recognised my bike as bearing a striking similarity to that other bright green one that a little birdie told me was seen doing....

Respray was actually going to be last weekend, but with a trackday this Sunday I thought that would just be tempting fate. Now xmas will get in the way... yada yada yada. I think I might paint it black and orange, and stick some Repsol stickers on the side.

I've got the scanner and plate sorted already. Might put the spare radar detector on there too for a laugh. But what's that really gonna do? Just give me a run up if I'm lucky. Cos a sportsbike really needs that - not.

And Spud - tell the bros it's game on fella.

The old scanner comes in handy at times, tis more a pain up here, you got it lucky madboy, they pretty much only use one channel down that way, up here there's at least 40 to scan, gets a bit confusing at times, and plus the highway boys dont use it that often, would've loved too known what the guys in eagle were saying after lighting me up doing a 180kph wheelie down the m/way, thought i was a goner, i reckon they were just fucking with me having a right good laugh.

yea well madboy one off these days you'll find out that no matter how good a rider you think you are you just can't loose a helicopter

18 / 20 years ago I used to think like you do but back then there were no Police helicopter in fact it wasnt the Police that chased ya it was only the
MOT an they had about 1 zillieth of the power of the law behind them that the Police have so dude take my advice in future just pull over

Or could it be that you are sufferin a kind of paranoid dellusional disorder
that makes you think you are being chased when infact the police in question were off to attend some actual real incident

17th December 2005, 08:19
Yep, I'd better make sure I keep taking the pills...

Welcome to the new plod. I don't envy your job. I was thinking of doing it myself while I was going through a disillusioned phase a few months ago - the variety, getting out and about and hopefully making a contribution to society. But then I realised I couldn't afford the pay cut, I'm too racist and couldn't live with the hypocrisy if I was forced anywhere near traffic enforcement. And I'd also lose my job very publicly if I got busted doing a runner...

Right, off to the trackday to do the real speeds. See yous fellas in Taupo.

Well the sensible thing to do would revolve around trying to retain experienced cops by increasing there pay rate rather than replacing them with young kiddies who have hardly lived life themselves.

But it hardly matters when we have a justice sytem that focuses solely upon releasing the offender to offend again as quickly as possible. You get 10 years for murder, its only a matter of time before we replace home econmics with basic burglary, afterall we all know which is most profitable.
