How do you carry spare helmet when you are picking up someone (say, within 10-20 minutes ride away)?
I'm interested in how sportriders do this.
I can stuff the jacket into my backpack, but I can't figure out how I can carry the helmet safely.

Use duct tape to hold it to the rear tail peice

lol read a thing about SP1's in this book i have " you can attach a small seat to the rear of an SP1, however the bike is designed to be ridden alone.......and FAST"
fast bling bike is no good if you can't use it to pick up chicks! :bash:
I tried the helmet-through-elbow but (1) it hindered handling and unsafe for riding, and (2) if I fall off it would be bye-bye-elbow.

Its the only way to carry a helmet. However if we was really worried about handling, would we have a pillion in the first place and its bye-bye if we come off anyhow.

I wear it on my arm, and just a warning lane splitting would be a bad idea while carrying the helmet this way.
Helmets come with a carry bag, use the carry bag :p

the carry bag is a thin piece of cloth bag that the sewings have come undone in various places......I don't trust that.
So, is the helmet-over-elbow legal? Or would it be classified as unsafe-load?

I dunno if it is or not, I guess it would be?

push the helmet past your elbow onto the top part of your arm. it dosnt affect handling this way. Wont work if youre a chunky sorta lad though

is there no way to strap it to the back? dad has said hes carried a spare lid on the helmet lock, but i cant see how that wouldnt get in the way of your leg. likely safer than over the arm though.

Not that I carry one often and when I do it isn't far but I simply use a bag on my back...then stash it(the bag) away under the back cowling.Sorted. :niceone:
Don't like attempting to do the elbow trick as I found it always dropped forward and caused potential problems and no pillion is worth damage on my bike!:argh: :moon:

yea. That's also my problem. Not to mention bumping it against the tank and risking dent/chip on that lustrous beautiful Honda Red paint :pinch:
Bungee net is one alternative. but I'v experienced situation where the helmet tilted to the side and almost fell over (had I not happen to notice it on the rear view mirror) so not really keen on it unless there is no other alternatives.

Ya don't have room under the rear seat for a bag?
Yeah I'd never use that netting stuff as like you I don't want to damage my paint work!
LOL...I think the pillion should be better prepared, would save the bollix eh:yeah:

I trashed a brand new shoie a few years back riding with it on the lock! not a good idea:slap:

Luggage nets work well and are only $16.00.
Or you could buy an $1100.00 Spidi jacket with an integral helmet carrier.

Buy one of these and you can just store it under the seat...

I've transported a helmet on my elbow, without it causing a problem, but it does freak me out thinking whats going to happen to my elbow if I crash. Also carried it in a bag, but that causes problems if you need to carry a jacket too and again it worries me what will happen in a crash. On the TLR, I used to put in on one of the helmet locks, if you get it in there with the strap tight enough it cant go anywhere or damage the paint. Bit harder to swing your leg over the seat but otherwise no negative side effects, and wind-resistance tested up to some fairly reasonable speeds . . .
The best solution I have had so far was on the RF with a ventura pack rack. You could get boots, helmet, jacket, pants and gloves all in there in one hit. Minta . . .
A mate of mine has just got a backpack sent over from the UK that has a zip out compartment on the bottom that is shaped to hold a helmet. Its a bag that is specifically designed for bikers and looks to be excellent quality, next time I see him I will ask what make it is, where he got it and how much.

I did that - and I crashed, and the helmet saved my elbow (seriously). I had a leather jacket on but it came away fine - the lid got a good graze though
edit - to answer the question - If there is no room in the GIVI top box, I put it on my left elbow.

the givis work great! i chuck the lid in there if im going to be away from the bike and it looks like rain, lol. also manage to cram the jacket in around it most times as well.....then i remember my wallet is in the pocket and is an essential for paying for things! :blank:

Spidi do an item that most people mistake for a scarf but it is stretchy and has plastic hooks at the corners so functions like a cargo net. Of course being Spidi it costs more than $16.00.

Ahem, ok I hope I dont lok like a dumbass, but I've had my TLR for some years and never seen helmet lock on it?
If its the same as the TLs, its under the rear cowl with a hook on either side to hook the helmet strap on.... well thats what I'd use.. if ever I'd want to carry a spare helmet... =)
