Last night my little Toyota Corolla run around got broken into. The shits took my laptop with all of my work data, uni data and persaonal data, my head unit and the keys to my other car, my 1996 Nissan 200sx.
Luckily i do not keep my other car at this house, and on monday i will have to get the alarm remotes re-programmed. I am just pissed off about the laptop, 3 years of work and information lost...thats what you get for not backing up.
WATCH OUT HOWICK AREA. Oh and if you see the little fockers, hold onto em, cause they will be spending christmas and possibly new years in hospital.

Was the stuff out in the open on the seat or locked in the boot? Where was it parked?

If only they would give ya the data on the hard drive, sounds like the really valuable thing. I'd be gutted if all my Ba work had gone and I still needed it. Sorry mate, that sucks.:ar15:

Same with my house 2 weeks ago. A year's research data lost, along with thrashed house, broken interior doors, big gaping hole on the wall, and no quick response from the cops.

My missus is now still afraid to be alone at the house, and extra clingy as there is no sense of security. She's pretty shaken alright.

These little shits don't give a damn to other people's right and deserve to be shot in the head before they get caught by the police. If caught, they would only get a slap on the hand with wet tissue. Let me know if you want to bury some, I have a nicely sized backyard.

If they did get a slap on the hand with a wet tissue they would sue and receive a pay out of around 50 grand or so.

This is an example of the justice system in N.Z, what do you think someone who breaks into a car is going to get?

But according to the judge we should be applauding this murderer because he's ""taking steps to put your violent past behind you and will continue to do so," Justice Nicholson said."

brett, that's awful news.
i can't help wondering however, why would you leave your laptop with 3 years of work on it in your car?
it's portable, right?

Got several mag lights after being told that if I hit an intruder with it then it would not be classed as a weapon. This was after hitting some bastard breaking in down stairs in a house I used to live in with a 3 by 4. The ploddies was going to charge me!And people wonder why Im politically incorrect?

Keep your eye on FenceMe, there have been a few occasions where people have got their laptops back with the data intact by "seeing" a laptop they are thinking about "buying".

If you do manage to get it back, but minus the data, there are recovery companies who can often rescue things off deleted disks. Depends on the value of the data, of course.

Please do not disurb the cops, their time is being taken up chasing naughty young motorbike riders and manning taxation gathering points on perfectly safe roads......

Bad news, Brett, but it's so common nowadays that you pretty much need to take EVERYTHING with you when you leave your car. I've heard of car windows being smashed for someone's parking meter money stowed on the dash - considering how much parking costs in places like Wellington, you'd be likely to find more than $20 in most people's cars!

Easy for me to say "you should have taken it with you" now - but it does save those "if only" thoughts afterwards.

Sorry about what happened to you. Moral of the story, don't leave anything of value in your car. Some arseholes will break in for a two dollar coin.

Looks like the insurance will cover all but the cars stereo...still doesn't help with the missing information. I couldn't really do anything at work today...

I love the mob idea, vigilante actions may just be the medicine for the problems us normal, generally law abiding citizens against these pricks that graffiti, steal, cause fights etc.
Steal their cars etc, sttrip into parts and sell. Proceeds go to charity.
