yep - but with their total lack of sense regarding safety gear, i'm sure they will reveal they are both red on the inside.

I did think the same thing regarding the gear or lack there of, but hey it's a free country and I'm sure these guys are capable of making their own mis-informed decisions. Gotta love gravel rash, it's the 'in' look this year. Or maybe they don't crash ever...

I agree with you onearmedbandit.

As soon as I saw the pics, thought bad riding gear and then thought that they are only posers, as serious riders look after themselves so they can keep riding (should they ever come off)

I did a couple of trips around town today. Didn't see too many bikes. Did see a guy on a late model yellow Ducati in shorts and a guy on what I took for an Aprilia with no gloves. There was also a Harley rider but he was all in leather. Heading home I briefly followed a guy on a GN250 he looked like a model for a bike shop, dressed sensibly and riding sensibly too.

The contrast between him and the guy on the Ducati was rather stark and I was wondering who is the real motorcyclist?

John
18th December 2005, 18:47

Exactly....... and personally i would rather ride with people who can make a decision based on the circumstances (which are as per usual totally unknown in this case)....... people who have to get fully kitted up to ride down to the shop scare me,even if it is their porogotive.

I do!
Half the reason the ACC levies hit motorcyclists so hard is due to complicated and extensive motorcycle injuries. Guys like this wiping out in his T-Shirt isn't helping our pockets. It's also just plain annoying how ignorant people can be.
I hate to see these guys learn the hard way!

i get fuly kitted up if im going 100 metres to my mates house you never know where your gunna crash i mean you can get hit by a car at the bottom of your drive i had an accident involving a bus and a mini moto (not pretty)

and yesterday my best mate crashed in the street next to that for both of us less than 50 metres from home....while you always wear gear...my mate slid out in the rain and now has a knee the size of a grapefruit

no gloves just a helmet shirts and a t shirt... oooo to be 16 and bulletproof

i have gloves a helmet and a leather jacket but the jacket has no padding people give me shit about it and say ill fuck myself decently if i bail....which i learnt last time at least the jacket saved my skin

i really want to get some gear spend all my money buying new bikes all the time...ive bought 5 in the last 6 months lol 3 of them 2005 mini bikes a tzr and a stuffed gn lol

so yeah im getting some gear asap pisses me off im that lazy to not finish getting some damn gear :(

I have also learened the hard way about the lack of safety gear. it pisses me off to see dumb people to see lack of gear as shown in that picture. there loss if they crash. it's their problem if they get hurt.

Well said MA! Bling awarded. Some of the anti-gear nazis around here have probably contributed to the excessive amounts we all have to pay for rego/ACC fees.
Perhaps the comment about lobbying government goes both ways? See how far they would get trying to have crash helmets, safety gear, etc made optional!

gear

Mark..anything is better than nothing..when i started there was no such thing as body armour etc that i remember...Safety gear is based on ones own personal perception,I have a Arai helmet, fully armoured suit (shin/knee's/hips/forearms and elbow's and back protector),fancy boots and gloves..cost over $3000 .. Do i then say anyone who is not wearing this amount of protection is a plonker ????..of course not... Reality check,if i get hit by a car,or plow into something solid i am going to get hurt,no ifs, buts or maybe's..the above gear may help but it will not guarantee my survival, there are no guarantee's in life, especially with motorcycles..Motorcycling is not about being bubble wrapped,it is about instinct and and a inbuilt self preservation,.... Do you deal with the cause or the symptom?... Protection going with the symptom, skills going with the cause,no amount of protection will increase a basic skill...Wear gear, get skills... i will continue to go down to the shops for a bottle of milk wearing work boots, jeans and a T shirt and a helmet, that is my decision based on my belief that i can safely ride around the block if i use common sense.

Its too hot to ride in full gear - i've been riding in a T shirt (when in 50 zones)- but decided that a mesh jacket was a little safer. So I bought shift jacket - only 200 bucks. It's fairly inexpensive and keeps me cool - not as a cool as a t shirt, but does the trick.
