I've just found a thread in the racing forum (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=20172&highlight=cemetary), but for those of you that don't venture in there on a regular basis...who's going???

From what I gather racing starts from 11am. We're heading up from Palmy but not sure what time yet.

Anyone got tips on the best place to be on the track?

Yes, don't be ON the track ANYWHERE!!! You'll find that there are heaps of good corners adjacent to the track - depends on what you want to see - bikes going past you, coming towards you, cornering, etc. If you haven't been there before, you may want to wander around a bit and see the whole track. Some regulars have their favourite spots where you will find them year in, year out!

Just posted to the other thread...

well the bikes are getting the final pre trip prep done by Dangerous ...and you all can probably tell how long THAT will take :msn-wink:
Joni is practicing how to be a pillion and Dangerous is practicing how not to do wheelies and stuff with a pillion on the back.... well actually the Guzzi "doesn't do wheelies" hense the reason he had to do a few on the Buell over the course of the past weekend. At least he didn't do any with the pillion on this time eh Dangerous?? Only with my dad watching... I'm sure he doesn't really think you are that dangerous a rider now huh?

So yup we'll be on the road sometime on Saturday when people decide exactly what time to start this little escapade off.. on to Blenheim for the night then across on the ferry on xmas day to maybe get a piece of xmas cake from some mates just outa wgtn. Then to Wanganui for the night, all ready to grab the best spot on Boxing day for the races.
So who else is up for it?? What stragglers can we pick up along the way? Or where shall we make a meeting spot in wanga? Bear in mind we are just poor southern folk and may need some guidance by the locals to the best meeting point and booze stops... along with a map in at least 3 different languages (nth island, sth island and Dangerouseeze) with BIG red marks to point out the important spots...just so we dont get lost :devil2:

The guzzi will do with a pillion on the back - ballast is a wonderful thing. I'm sure Joni won't mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going with the little woman but she is dead against jumping on the back of my bike so it looks like it will be a car trip. Still got a week to convince here the bike is a better idea though.

Brought mine from ticketic (how the hell do you spell that??)

$22 each plus a $2 for the girl behind the counter. Still not entirely sure what the $2 is for but there you go.

Not sure if you can buy them at the gate or not.. Which is why I brought mine today.

you might want to add putting front wheel back on bike to that list.. That is of course, only if you are planning on using it.

Haha very funny... Mister... Mister... FUNNYPANTS!!! (sorry cowboyz, that's the best comeback I could come up with :spudwhat:)

Actually was waiting for a new front rotor disk to arrive from USA but it won't be till way after Wangs so will have to put up with the old one. As you know, the rotor disk on a Firebolt is significantly different to what you find on most bikes and due to the design it is apparently more susceptible to warping.

We'll be there - we're heading up to Morrinsville Saturday and coming back to Wangas on Christmas Day, to arrive around midday - I like to be at scrutineering.

I like to sit in the esses - I have my favourite gravestone and it's in the shade, and you can see (relatively) quite a bit of the track.

I presume there will be gate sales this year. They also, for the first time, have a grandstand on the start/finish straight.

Had a totally awesome time in Wanganui yesterday, the ride down from Auckland was 50% wet but the weather in Wanga's was supurb on arrival, had a fantastic ride home today with stunning roads & weather all the way!

Good to meet up with a few KBers, and really enjoyed watching some of our resident racers, TS (well done on getting 3rd in that last race man! Your name was called at prize-giving but you weren't there to go up and receive your prize & give a speech!), Nicko, et al. :woohoo:

Anyway, clocked up near on 1000kms and am now feeling somewhat bushed.

Some pics attached for your viewing pleasure, got to nearly walk around the whole circuit and take a few good shots.
