View Full Version : Buy Back Opportunity

Ok, If you're not already aware, I binned my baby the other weekend.

Got the phone call from the assesor today and repairs come to $16500 (including all plastic & tank). So obviously they're going to pay me out. I expect I'll get the choice to buy it back, and I'm very tempted to as I reckon I could pick up most of the parts needed off ebay and get some bits repaired/resprayed. I'm guessing I could get it back on the road for around $8K.

However, I've got enough projects as it is, and I'm looking at possibly moving to Aussie in the new year so it isn't really realistic for me to take this on. So I figured I might as well offer the opportunity to you guys/gals.

It's a silver 2004 Triumph Daytona 600, 10500kms, estimated retail: $12000. It's got a carbonfibre micron can, Crash knobs and a ventura pack rack,(comes standard with rear hugger and tinted "double bubble" style screen). I expect they'll want no more than $1500 for it. All damage is cosmetic except the front subframe (holding guages) and the crankcase cover. If you're prepared to be patient, picking up parts off Ebay and the internet, and get some parts (such as the tank) repaired and resprayed, you could have a very nice, rare bike for a great price.

I also have a number of damaged parts from when i dropped it a while ago including the carbon can pictured, that I get back from the shop in a month or so that you can have as well, plus the owners manual, Pillion seat and whatever else I've forgotten.

If anyone's genuinely interested, I can post a detailed list of the damaged parts, updated pics before the crash, and pics of the damage. Any questions welcome....

As I said, they haven't offered me the buy back yet, but I thought I'ld give you some time to think about it.

My loss, your gain???

Yep still goes fine, I had the accident just out of coromandel, picked it up and rode it to the Coroglen pub where I noticed it was leaking oil thru a crack in the crankcase cover. So got it towed from there.

I'm saying you could get a damaged 2004 bike for an estimated $1500 cause I'm such a nice, thoughtful bastard....... Might throw in a box of piss on top of the price?

Triumph genuine parts are very expensive, and they quote full replacement on every slightly damaged part. (Hence why I recommend using ebay and repairing parts). for example: Indicator: $104, Nosecone:$1238, Tank:$1800ish, Tail fairing:$1800ish....... that's how!

Cheers but I'm mates with the guys at the shop where the bike is, so they'll let me know before it goes anywhere.

As for getting it moving, Yep, just the cover as said above.

Ok, here's the latest,

Spoke to claims this morning. The fuckwits are going to dereg the bike and there's fuck all I can do about that. If you want it as a track bike it's obviously not a problem, but be aware that if you want to put it back on the road you'll need to re-cert it (about $360ish if I remember right). there may be ways around it such as changing the rego to a personalised plate as soon as you get it, but that's for you to sort out.

They didn't have a price for me yet so they're finding out and getting back to me hopefully soon. If they don't know by tomorrow morning it means I won't get payed out until wednesday after xmas... as there are a few of you interested I don't mind doing this.

When they do give me a price, I'm gonna need to know if anyone wants it fairly quickly though (within 24 hours max). To make things easier, if you are genuinely interested, perhaps you could let me know how much you're willing to pay (pm me if you wish). Be aware that the price they give me will be fixed and not negotiable. Also, i won't be making anything out of this, the price they give me will be the price I give you.

In return there's a few things I ask:

1) Don't fuck me around. If you don't have the cash, don't bother. I will get payed out less the amount for the bike, I need this money for my new ride asap. I'm already delaying it a week for this.

2) As soon as I confirm your purchase of the bike, I'll need you to deposit the money in my account.

3) You will need to arrange transport of the bike to it's new home. It's currently at Bayride Motorcycles, however, if you can't uplift it for a while then I do have space to store it here for you.

First in, first served.....

Yep, told them I wanted the option so they're getting a price for me. Only bummer is I can't get paid out first then buy it back, if I get paid out then it goes to auction.

Just had a call from the insurance company, they want $2000 for the bike (a little steeper than I expected but not too bad).

I've told them I want to think about it and will get back to them. I'll give you till tomorrow morning to let me know (the latest I can let them know to get my money before xmas). However, if someone needs more time let me know and I'll consider extending it.

If you would rather risk it, I can ask when/where it will go up for auction and you can bid for it at turners.

This is a rare opportunity..... don't miss out!

Haha, no didn't cry, however did invent some rather interesting words that even shocked me!!!:angry2:

Ok, for Aff-man and others interested I'll list all damaged parts, this is off the top of my head and I may miss something out but will do my best....

Nosecone, Both left fairings & lower right fairing, upper right has big stone chip on front edge, Tail piece, Tank, Left headlight, Screen, Left wing mirror, Front subframe, Both left pegs, Left bar end, Left grip, Very minor scratch on left switchgear, Scrape on left packrack mount, Exhaust pipe and end can. Bent clutch lever, slight scrapes on brake pedal, Both crash knobs, Crankcase cover, Both left indicators, Inner left plastic cover, Indicator relay missing.

Hopefully that's it, all I can remember for now anyway.
