momentum has the images.
well, i organsied this one so here goes.
i left my place at around 1:40pm, the ride was set for 2.
it was juist spitting, but along cobbham drive 5 mins from our meetup point i had to pull the DT over due to the rain!
after putting on my wets i proceeded to caltex, peachy (GSX 250), momentum (CBR 250 RR) and pathos (FXR 150) were waiting. shortly after gassing my DT175 up it pissed down!
we waited for 20 mins until it lightened up, then set off.
as we headed out we seemed to catch the clouds, so we pulled over a few times, the last real "rain stop" was under a tree on a otherwise flat deserted road.
after this we headed into the hills, Momentum didn't have much experince, so he was quite slow in the twisties, whilst the little FXR ridden by Pathos powered after me.:third:
peachy headed up the tail on the big heavy suzuki GSX.
My dt has trail tyres, so on the damp roads i take it easy, after the best of the damp twisties was over we pulled over for a chat and to check out the weather and the lanscape.
the topic was, shall cut it short, or keep going, after a coin toss we headed on.
the roads become more flowy here, and Pathos and I were having a ball, while peachy was resisting feediong his big hungy ego:angry2:
Mr momentum, however was starting to get into the grove, and almost started keeping up!:spudflip:
then disaster stuck, about 60 km along the ride i overshot a turn off (no, thats not too bad!)
i turned the dt around to see peachy apparently pull up on the grass, put his bike on the sidestand, and collapse next to it,so i just pointed the dt's 21 inch front wheel towards the big steel GSX.
upon pulling up peachy explaind, chain's off mate, it locked on me.
i jumped off the dt, momentum and pathos were at the scene as well by then, i traced the skid marks, they were about 30-50m long!
he slid just on the last bit of a corner, and slid into the flat grass verge, if he done anothe 20 m on the grass he would have hit the hege, or the ditch perpendicular to the road up ahead (full of water too!)
the chain was F&*%ED, its links twisted 180 deg~ against a munched up shitty suzuki swingarm, the chain tensinors looked like the expression on his face!
we cound not untangle it.
i tried to take out the link, but it was at the top of the pile up, and it was too tense to undo,
so after asking around a few farm houses (all wide open, no one home!)
we finally found a place to stash the suzuki.
now everyone finally belive me that heavy bikes are baaaad!:mega:
3 of us lifted the back one took the front, we all swapped at times, just to ease the strain (peachy told me big bikes are good because the hold the road better:scratch: )
anyway, once the GSX sledge was away mr peachy had to be passanger on my trusty yam (its a damn good bike!)
this meant trading a lagre ego for a small buzzy seat!
he wasnt too happy, but thats what you get for
(A) trying to wheelstand a 180 kg GSX with rider
(B) not doing good maitainance (try 23 thou without a oil change)
after punishing the good ol DT and scraping he pegs i swapped my ego centred weight to Mr Momentum (most powerfull bike- last exp)
it was back to hamilton then, fairly uneventfull, apart form your typical housewife i a Nissan X Trail putting half her car over a stop line without so much as a look or pause!
after the ride (5pm) we got a trailer from momentum:ride: (read real good bastard!:yeah: )
peacy's partents came with us, we went by cage and got the GSX heap and took it to his olds place, and then it was back to momentum's place (it was 10 pm by then!)
we parted our ways then,
what can i say..:shifty:
momentum and pathos are great to ride with, relaxed, and sensible, they put in time and effort tor something that had nothing to do with them to an almost complete stranger!
i was the most irrisponsible fast rider there (peachy would have been:no: )
i hope to ride with you guys again, photo's please momentum
peachy will be on kiwi biker soon guys!
i will put a link to the other forum.
