Hi
I've just joined Kiwi Biker. Not sure what's expected of newbees but here are a few details.
I ride a VTR1000F and live in Oamaru. My bike is a 2001 model with brother pipes. I have a Radar Detector (bel 946) fitted on the bike and Ventura Pack rack and bags, just the gear for decent trips on fast open roads. On that subject the roads down here on the Mainland are great for bikes and there are several active clubs at you can join here in town. Prior to the Firestorm I had a Honda CBX750. TeamRC17 is an awesome website for that machine and I still enjoy their forum chat and have pics posted up on the site of some of my earlier bike trips.
While on that subject I plan to head off next week for a tour of the South Island. Here's hoping for great bike weather! Cheers Geoffc

Hey, welcome to the site mate. I'm sure there are a few Kiwibikers down there you can meet up with.
Take what is said on here with a grain of salt as it can consist of 50% shit talking and 10% drunken ranting, 10% flaming, 20% actual bike related usefull stuff and the other 10% is just 'other' ;)

TWR Thanx for the good weather wish. The backpackers are booked & a fine spell of weather would be a great xmas treat. I head to Wanaka & the 'Pink Cow' on 28 Dec.
Bartman10 I will be on the lookout for your yellow leathers. Have a safe trip down.
Virago Hope to see yah about. Maybe next years Dunnas Toy Run or the Brass Monkey.
JWALKER Highway 72 through Rakaia Gorge & Geraldine is a regular trip of mine. Tend to avoid Ashburton north to ChCh. Too many men in Blue trying to generate revenue.
Merry Xmas & Happy riding all.

Hi team
Back from a tour around the South Island. We took 5 days out to complete this with a bit of sight seeing and the usual R & R.
Weather was fine and settled with just 15 minutes light showers for a short part of our journey. Temperatures in the 15 to 20c range (maybe 25 c in Alexandra as we passed through). Bikes behaved well except a minor mishap with the Suzuki 250cc Katana some 7 kms from home. The CBX 750 needed a new battery but otherwise ran sweet. We were prepared for the push starting. It was cheapest to run on fuel, followed by my VTR1000 Firestorm then the Suzuki which had to rev hard to keep up.
Have posted up just a few pics to show some of the scenery and inexpensive Backpackers or YHA that we stayed at. You can find them at http://gallery.teamrc17.net/view_album.php?page=1&set_albumName=album11
West Coast and Haast Pass was my favourite part for the trip with Native Bush on both sides of a great road and very little traffic to slow you down. Saw very few 'Men in Blue' and had a Radar Detector on my bike as insurance.
Nice to get home safe an sound.
Cheers

Hi :wavey:
Got two speeding tickets in quick succession on the bike a few months back. What with the demerit points & fines.... I don't want any further attention from the boys in blue!
And I don't speed ....that much. Yes it is hot wired. The Bel 946 radar detector I have runs on batteries as well but it seems easier to have it hard wired and not need to be replacing batteries.
cheers

Hi
Sent me a PM if you plan to pass through Oamaru. You would be most welcome for a pit stop. I plan to be a round on Friday. Have a family commitment so can't go to the Glenorchy rally.
Weather forecast doesn't look too bad either. Have fun & enjoy.
