View Full Version : Modding my 1000rr

Had the bike for 4 months now and I'm ready to mod it.
Here's what I'm thinking about;
New pipe - Something carbon fiber, Scorpion???
Power Commander
Fender eliminator
Questions: 1) I guess there'll be various suggestions on pipes but I'm keen to hear. 2) If I get the pipe and power Commander ex US, who can I pay to fit it and tune it? Does this need to be done on a dyno?
Cheers!

Oh Oh Oh - how about some of those bling bling blue lights under the bike and an orange flag mounted to the rear guard ....

Hi Finn,
I am thinking about the same bits n pieces as you.
I have looked into the slip ons here in NZ and have been told that the Scorpions fit really nicely and come with all adaptors etc to do the job.
If you purchase a power commander from a reputable company in the states most of them can map the commander to suit your muffler so you just have to plug it in and away you go (no dyno work needed at all). I have heard from most though that you don't actually need a power commander as it only really assists in smoothing throttle response and improves low and mid range slightly.
There are a few fender eliminators available, you can land them as cheaply as $70NZ from Ebay.

i heard the best mod is to take it to colemans . give them $5000 and leave with a new k5 or k6 gixxer 1000. note the attached pic , you can see the gains in graph form , yes thats the suzuki at top in blue and the one down the bottom in red is    the cbr1000rr rrr rrrrr

But I already have those. Although my lights are orange in keeping with the Repsol paint job. Mounting the flag is going to be a problem when I get the fender elimination kit so I'll have to get a bracket made.

I mean I know that suzuki's are crap but I didn't know they're now dumping them for $5000!!! I'd pay at least $6000 for one. :moon:

-------------
$6000 would get you a crashed gsxr1000 k1 , would still be better than what you have

I'd rather have a bus pass than a Gixxer

As far as outright performance goes, absolutely. It's just that they're so fucking ugly and they also make this...

i would be the first to admit the repsol cbr1000 is the best looking jap bike , but who cares , they all look the same from the pilots seat , if i want good looking id get a tl1000r or street rod

I priced up the slip on s/s Yoshi =1440+gst so i'd be keen to know what the Scorpion cans like?

I put a Micron end can on mine, Didnt worry about a Powe Commander. Its complete ass under 3k, but obove that, its great!
There is an exup valve thingy on the joining pipe, that you will have to take off, but it still goes fine with it off.
I just left the cables for the valve on, and hid them between the heat sheild and plastic cover on the right hand side.
Sounds great!
I have 155hp at the rear, so its not too slow.
Have also down geared it, so its even better now.
Next will prob be an Air filter.. Either K/n or DNA (both do exactly the same thing really)

if i wanted my bike to be made in china i would buy a shitty shit zuki and yes they are i know the head mechanic from moto gb suzuki in the mount and they got a container with busers and gixers and the all came from china so there at least hondas are japanese.
and as far as the power comander gos they do make a difference seen it on a dyno but the american settings arnt quit right for nz our atmosphere is a lot different and you can gain a few hp on there set up if you go to the right place and get it set up on the dyno
and for gods sake give up the battle of the jap bikes and just admit people that own suzukis are just cheep barsturds in comparison to the rest of us.

the biggest motorcycle factory in the world is hondas india factory , id rather my bike was made in china than india , but its all bullshit, your head mechanic mate has prolly been giving too much head coz he sounds like a lieing fag , gixxers and busas are made in japan , some suzukis are made in china for the chinese market but not the one i ride.
yes suzukis are sometimes cheaper , but putting a good bike within a consumers means is not a bad thing ,they gauge the market and respond , hands up who got a bargain tls, gixxer 1000, rf900 or bandit
