I've been wondering what is happening with this bike and found this on a Cycle World forum for anyone interested.
Yes, this is going to happen!
The rest of the Norton team and I have fought like dogs to get this project to the point to which it is today, were not about to fade into the woodwork. You will have the oppurtunity to view the new website, due to launch in the next several days. The newest iteration (production intent!) of the Commando is now tagged a "961". The development process, I must tell you is a much more intensive effort than I ever imagined, but at this date we have made truly remarkable progress, on all of those process's. The entire "rolling chassis" has passed all FEA testing, and is in production tooling, in Italy. Our motor testing is in the accumulative mileage phase, and post this testing, we will proceed with production tooling with our indentified vendors. We will notify all of our future planning as to what, when and where, but at this point, we are still a minimum of a year out from production. I apologize for the delays, I too, wish I could make it happen sooner, but it is what it is.
Our past efforts to "cleanse" the Norton image post the Aquilini trademark battles have brought world recoginition back to the famous Norton name. What really has happened is that Norton wants to be bigger than any of us ever imagined, and this has prompted a new vision for Norton Motorsports. I have recently brought Bruce Murdock to Norton as President and CEO, in an effort to take the company to the next level of scale and scope. Bruce brings over 20 years of successful business experience to Norton, and twice that many years as a passionate and competitive motorcycle enthusiast. I am confident that I have the neccessary people in the right places to make Norton the successful reality that we all want it to be.
