Night rides

Yesterday did the Coro Loop leaving central Auckland around 5pm, can't wait to try it again.

I usually go down Cheenic Dwive :love: at night about 9pm...

Anyone else normally go for rides after dark??

When I'm doing a PM shift and have knocked off I tend to cruise about on the TT350f to unwind for awhile. I used to have to play violent computer games, but find riding much more therapeutic.:devil2:

Only ride at night when I have to, certainly wouldn't think of doing the Loop in an evening...you're a keen man Charlie Brown! It's one way to up those skills mate!! :niceone:

yeah same as Matt, have done a bit when I have had too, but not keen on open road/back road stuff,, don,t mind commuting to and from work and I have done 22 a few times at night, but I guess for me that does not count
for much, anyway good on you JSG as Matt said It will sharpen your skills.

The 1st thing I do when I get a new bike is to upgrade the headlight bulbs.
I love night riding.

The Takas on a full moon is awesome, 3 to 4 am....The moon light is so bright you can see the colors of your bike, and yet see headlights coming 100's of meters away...bliss!

love riding at night, but not when theres heaps of traffic. perfer riding at 1am-ish when there is no cars than at 10 when theres heaps.

i love riding round town at night when there are no cars on the road.

find some empty streets and go blatting round them.

better than sitting at home board on the pc

and they way i look at it the more time i spend on the bike the better i will get

Not for this kid, too many 'mobile chicanes' (cattle, sheep, possums) out on the road and harder to spot in the curvey bits.

Nothing like going down one side of a big dip and coming up the other side just in time to see a bunch of black cattle out on the road.:pinch: :argh:


Plus pot-holes, loose gravel etc harder to spot.

Do it only when have to.

Nice to see a few of you being so keen - we should organise a night ride.

How many of you are keen to go down FF's driveway (that's SH22) on the 7th of Jan?? Weather dependent . Night riding in rain is a bit "restrictive" to say the least.:innocent:

If there's enough interest I'll start a thread in the rides section.

We'd meet around 6pm at the Autobahn in Papakura go down 22 to Ngaruwahia and depending how we feel either turn back and return the same way or go straight down SH1 back to Auckland.

I'm on a restricted license so have to be back before 10pm.

Night riding is lots of fun. I've done SH3 heaps of times at night. Leave Hamilton at midnight, down the back road from Whatawhata to Otorohanga then on to Taranaki and pull up at my parents before 2:30am.

I'm more of a stereotypical sprots boik rider and only look at the road.... at night I don't have cliff edges to distract me and can concentrate on the while lines a bit better.

Having done Glen Murray-Hetherington-Rotowaro-Ngaruawahia when it's pitch black, I'm not keen on backroads night riding anymore.

But leaving Auckland at 2pm to do Coro Loop might be a good menu item.
