News tonight reported the death of a biker in or around Kaitaia today. Mate of mine went up that way today, picked a female pillion at Paihia and head north. Heard from him at 2pm, they were at Maunganui eating fish and chips, dont know if they had been or heading to Kaitaia at that stage. Sent him a txt at when i heard the news, havent heard back yet, hoping he is on the bike and wont answer till he gets off...does anyone know anything about the accident?

Yep the accident was on a beach..... RIP and condolances to the rider's family and friends.
Police are at the scene of a fatal motorcycle crash on the beach at Shipwreck Bay near Kaitaia. The rider suffered fatal head injuries after falling from the bike. The scene of the crash is remote and is not accessible by road. It will be some time before the body can be recovered.
There has since been another m/bike acident in the Hastings area tonight...
no details as yet - just that the rider is injured and being airlifted to hospital.
Please everyone take care out there on the roads / offroads or where ever you are riding.
The 47year old woman rider who died last night on the Waiwera/Orewa Hill was a local to the Orewa area. RIP and condolances to her family and her friends.

Good luck with getting hold of your mate! He probably has no idea anything has even happened in the area......
Makes you think how short life is and how you just never know eh? A work colleague of mine's 2 1/2 year old daughter died today of complication following cancer treatment....sometimes life just sucks!

Heard that on the radio at work this afternoon. Very sad to hear.
Northland roads are real bad at this time of year too. Just about been taken out in my cage a few times by 4wd's with boats in tow. Not nice.

That certainly puts everything into perspective. A biker that dies has at least lived long enough to have experienced a few things and to be as in control of their own fate as one can be. A 2 1/2 year old child has barely begun to live. My heart goes out to her poor parents, it doesn't pay to think about what they must be going through... Fuck I hate cancer

Doesn't pay to think about losers that can't think, about rider/drivers that can't ride/drive, in fact in my job it pays to look at a corpse as just that - a effin' corpse!!
Dead people? Shee-it, cain't do nothin' 'bout them!!
Welcome to my job!!
Of course it seems so easy when you think about it as 'revnue-gathering' eh?
No worries about deaths and informing relatives etc etc .....
A whole lot of 'Bulleit' bourbon helps too!!i

Have had a nutter in a 4x4 towing boat holding other vehicle's up, cut a corner and nearly took me out in the work Ute (gave him a friendly Northland wave:finger: ). Not long after that there was another beach going twit cutting a blind corner. Split second earlier and he with have been wearing my anvil in the middle of his stupid fu*cken head. Box Day saw the Next door neighbour's Ute written off by another corner cutting egg (Euro Tourist try to drive on the right-side). Lucky no damage to anyone.
Always sad to hear about the deaths.

no offence but you have one life only and you become a coppa? i dunno just myself i don't see being a cop as a desirable job.

and to the rider RIP. condolences to the family
please be careful out there riding guys don't go planning these big trips to celebrate new years because all the drunks are out and people just in a rush on the roads.

It is with great gratitude I read this - and no kidding!!
After seeing a whole lot of corpses in my life I tend to get a little cynical about 'life'.
I cut a lot of slack when it comes to motorbikes but am I really doing any good?
If I was harder would I maybe save SOMEBODIES life??
Too many Bulliett bourbons toniht eh??

Christmas day my sister and brother just about got cleaned up coming back from the beach. 4wd and trailer, came over the hill in the middle of the road. Sister was lucky to be driving slow, else it would have ended up being a not so nice christmas.
Happened twice to me on my way to work and works not even 5 minutes from home. :ar15:
