Cheers for any help :)

If something like this falls on the ground, you undid the wrong bolt :niceone:

There should be a bolt something like this (not that this is a VTR250)..it pays to get a workshop manual if you are going to do your own maintenance even if only for the retorque figures.Someone might have a link to a online version.

No worries and good luck...if you need to know anything else, I may be able to help. I have an '89 model and have had an '87 before.

Hi , I've got a 250 vtf with hydraulic clutch that needs an oil change, just wondering which of the bolts i've got to undo on the bottom of the engine casing. The one in the middle of that circle thing holds the filter in. The one with the lump of metal protecting it from impacts coming from the front is the sump plug.

The VT(something)250(something) engines are much of a muchness.

Chapter 2 page 5 from here ( http://www-personal.umich.edu/~kthmpson/vtr250/ ) will do

BUT!!

CHECK THE OIL VOLUME ON THE STICKER NEXT TO THE FILLER PLUG.

I put 2L in my '98 VTR250 (Like the '84 VTR250 manual said), I had did the cap up, and I noticed the sticker said some greater volume... Lucky...!

Pic 1 drain bolt
Pic 2 oil filter housing.

Change your oil filter also. They are cheap and it's good insurance.

all vt bikes (including the spada) have the same engine.

big bolt in the middle of rim is the filter next one up is the oil sump plug.

get the online version of the spada manual and the honda common service manual. if you cant find them pm me and i will email them to you or something.
