Anyone who is keen for a cruise/blat for a couple of hours or so.
Destination to be finalised in the morning dependant upon how many turn up.
So who shall we be seeing?
Seems 8 is a tad early for some. Consensus seems to be more towards a 9 start. See you there.

Pity about the weather, can see up north where it's raining. By some miracle it might all clear up by 9 but we could wait till 10 or 11 to see if it's gonna clear, otherwise i'm not keen on riding in the wet.

Blue skiies and bit of sun starting to come through in patches, still overcast up north.
To those who didn't go earlier and still want a blat, i'll be at Shell Westgate at 12pm for 15mins before heading off for a ride, hopefully roads will have dried out by then?
May cancel if it rains heavy again close to 12 - what a wuss.

Met up with Zed, Crashe and Mr Skid at Westgate at 12pm. Roads were properly dried out by that time. Went for a blat up to KKK and met up with Dover, Vixter and 2 others. A few of us carried on up to Wellsford, more traffic then usual, presumably because of the holiday traffic. Zed and I then went back down 16 to Helensville then did the whole of old north instead of Peak.
Zed, you seem to have monos sussed pretty well on that new bike of yours, hope you liked the detour from KKK > Helensville > Kuemu.
Nice riding with you all.

Well that was just what the doctor ordered, 2 1/2 hours in the saddle up to Wellsford via 16 and back, with awesome weather, dry roads in good condition, and great company with crashe, Mr Skid, and Chickenfunkstar. Also met up with Dover & Co in Kaukop...get some sleep Dover lol!
Crashe, we missed the procession, did you see it? Hope you had a good solo down 1 & thru Woodcocks.
Pity about not meeting up with Patch & Co. but some of us are wisses, and there'll be other opportunities, thinking about doing a ride to the Coro Loop next week? It's been funny weather lately.
Happy new years to all! :D

I was surprised how many people showed up, considering the weather. I don't think I've met any of you that were there before - that's a kinda new experience, most kb rides I know a few people at least. It was good to meet ya's.
The weather wasn't too bad, there wasn't any heavy rain, just drizzle and on the way back it cleared up. I hope none of you that were sitting in the sun got burnt.
The ride back, particularly along Woodcocks road/West Coast road was great :niceone:
On the way back we stopped at the KKK gas station, saw Crashe, Chickenfunkstar and some other bikes (I guess you were one of them, Zed? I didn't manage to get a decent look at the bikes as they went past.) Good to year you guys had a good ride too.
Thanks for organising the ride, Patch. :niceone:

Waved at a couple of ya's as I rode past going north to Wellsford. Glad you had a goodun. :ride:

What a ride..... I lead the pack for the first 11kms.....
then wohooo the rest ride past me with a quick wave...
(Zed, Chickenfunkstar and Mr Skid)
As I pull into KKK I mention to the 3 about the riders that we had just past...
so back we go.... Hi to Vixter, her sister, bro-n-law (I think) and Dover.
So again I lead the pack out from KKK.... and I am sure that I spotted "C" of CaN at the petrol station at KKK.
Mr Skid left us to head back to the city at KKK - nice to see you again mate...
Get to Wellsford.... yipeeeee ahead of Zed and CFS - ok only cos they stopped off at the lookout point.
CFS grabs the very last pie in the garage, so I had to have McDons...
such a hardship...lol.
Zed and CFS head back via 16 and I head on back via SH1.
I was gonna go via Woodcocks Rd but at the last minute I changed my mind...
Heading towards Orewa as I come around the corner I spot a car and I recognised the number plate... So I stop...
Yep its a mates car.. I use my AA card...
They get a lift back to the city and I sit on the side of the road waiting for the towtruck for the car....
Cheers to all the riders who slowed down and checked all was ok...
I gave them all the thumbs up signal...
Zed I never saw the procession at all.... but heaps of Hogs heading back up to the Puhoi Pub afterwards.
So its been a long day. Only just gotten home.
And it was sunny the whole time I was out there on the bike... WOHOOOO

Mate, I sat behind you for a few bends and noticed you braking right into the corner and most of the way round it. You got to get down to speed before you turn in then apply throttle round the corner.
You are better to err on the side of too slow in for 2 reasons. It is both safer and quicker than erring the other way cause as soon as you realise you are too slow you can nail it.
Also your ability to actually steer is severly hampered with the front brake on.

Too true, thats why I didn't sit behind you for too long, just about shit myself on one corner when I saw ya brake mid corner.
The more you ride, the more confidence you build, the better at cornering in the wet :eek5: you will become - especially with a V-Twin right beside ya.
Have to do it again - less brake more throttle and lean :scooter: then
Cheers to everyone :drinknsin Happy New Year
