:niceone: I just scored a '79 DT175 for 50 bux, cool :niceone:
I finally got it to go and it even idled, but now it wont start, backfiring and kicking back, it even broke the kickstarter as well as causing serious bruising to my favorite leg.
I found that the plate under the flywheel was loose, so that threw ignition the timing, but no matter where I set the timing, I cant get the marks on the flywheel to line up with the ones on the case.
Also I have two flywheels, and two stator? plates and they are all different, for example, the pulser coil on one is in a differnt place, and if you line up the keyways on the flywheels the timing marks are different, has anyone got any tips?
Can anyone fix me up with a new kick starter?

I used to have one myself after swapping it for a sega mega drive and lots of games for it (I'd just purchased one of the first PS1 to come to NZ). Can't say I know how to fix it though as I just used and abused the poor thing and it loved it. Was a great beach bike and fortunately for me the ploddies never did catch me blatting around on it:2thumbsup

if it's like my old IT 175 apparently one coil is a high rev coil the other a low rev one. you should have some markings to line up. may be 180 out.

my one would never rev out too as a wire had been bumped off the high rev coil!

thanks for your posts, it goes ok now, the flywheel key had sheared off, its not to bad for an old DT, its either spinning the wheel, or its slowing down:Punk: so I'm happy, I am on the lookout for parts tho, so PM me if you know of any.
PS if anyone in Blenheim has an old dunger and wants to go for a ride then let me know, cause Im keen as for a comparison
