This will be a day ride down to Kopu and clockwise around the Loop, stopping at Whitianga or Tairua for lunch, then possibly on down to Whangamata/Waihi then back to Aucks. Did this same ride several weeks ago and it was thoroughly enjoyable!
Time: Meet 9:00am, leave 9.15am.
Place: Autobahn, Papakura (BP S/Stn & restaurants on the Southern M'Way just past Papakura off-ramp heading south)
Come along for one of the best road rides in the North Island. Hamilton/Tauranga riders are welcome to meet us at Kopu S/Stn around 10.30am.
See you there! :ride:

I was always under the impression that if you choose to do it anti-clockwise then you're on the wrong side of the road on the Coromandel to Thames stretch... mud on the road and that...

most times we have done it, we go anti clockwise if its a morning ride and
clockwise in the pm, but thats just us, like I said heaps of debate over this one, think I'll grab some :corn: :corn: , and wait a bit.....

Would love to tag along but my bike is in the shop at the moment. Put it in for a service while I was away over Christmas but didn't get it back before they closed for New Years etc. Bit of a shitter.
Been thinking of doing this route as a figure 8 sometime - start at Kopu, go to Paeroa then Waihi and Whangamata, over the Kopu Hikuaui's to Thames for lunch, then up to Coromandel, to Whitianga and the Coroglen for a lemonade **cough** , then down through Tairua, over the Kopu Hikaui's again and head for home. Might have to see who's up for that a little later on.
Oh, and clockwise ftw thanks.

clockwise would be my pick, as (IMHO) the longer, more demanding ride is up the coast and over the whangapoa/matarangi/kuotunu hills. makes for a more relaxing ride home via tairua/kopu/hikuai and it's an easy extend to turn off and go home via whagamata/waihi/paeroa if you're keen to ride longer.

Hi Guys , Ive just driven up to Hahei, and seriously team if you want to pick a ride you couldnt have picked a worser one, there are freckin cars every where there are traffic jambs at Tairua both directions, and you would have to stop its in a word a nghtmare, the roads are jamb bloody packed and you would have to like cars.......alot.
I recommend changing your plans and head around Waikato area, ie 22 TeKuiti (back raods) you decide but dont say I didnt warn ya :hitcher: !!!
Oh and saw 3 HP to , thats rare around here !

So when you guys stopped at the coroglen tavern i just carried on.U were the only one who didn't stop, we were only there for 20mins. You can do whatevea u want at the end of the day, least we saw you leave, unlike a guy I was riding with yesterday who ducked off the end of the group to go home and caused us (5 bikes) to turn around and back-track looking for him...he sent a text 40mins later, the twerp.
Went home through the hanua's so all is good. So did 5 of us, all the way back to Clevedon, then left to Manukau. Ride home on the M'Way sucked, sore butt after 7 hours in the saddle on the 954...found some new muscles in my forearms I didn't know I had, bit tender now hehe! :pinch:

Great ride! There wasn't too much traffic for most of it, just on the way back to kopu after the coroglen pub it was bumper to bumper most of the way.
I was quite pleased with the zeal's ability to keep up most of the way (except on the straights...). But bloody hell is it thirsty. At Tairua, first stop to fill up after Kopu, I had to put $16 (approx. 11L) to fill it up again. Zed only needed $8 gas for his CBR954RR... 1/4(?) the power for twice the fuel...
T.I.E awesome pics. Pity my moment of fame was spoiled by the cyclist... ;)
If you're trying to resize a whole lot of pics, XnView (http://www.xnview.com) has a multi convert tool that lets you resize and do some other stuff to a whole lot of pics at once.

and a third was the guy on the sp2 being taken out by a car coming out of a sideroad. never stopped just turned on to the road

Darn I missed it - my info was that the rain and wind would set in yesterday - so I left Whitianga early (about 10:30) .... there seemed to be some people going Anti-Clock around the loop (a good thing) and I waved...
Including someone 2up and a dog on the front of their bike... Any of us?

Pissed off that I missed it. Put my bike in the shop for a service while I was away for holidays and didn't get back in time to get it out of the shop. Now I'm told they might have to send the rear shock off to be looked at. Argh. More money. Will definitely be keen to go on the next one. Nothing will stop me !!!!! ....... hopefully

it amazes me that how you guys would rather take a wizz on the outside wall of the toilet than to actually venture in ... goes beyond laziness. i think its purely to rub it in womens faces that we cant do the same (well without getting a lot of attn anyhow)
