BMW with 7 k on the clock? My test rides are longer than that. I guess it is damn ugly so no one will want to test ride it anyway so that could explain it.

Sure can, ugly bugger isn't it. Those 7ks are probably from it being wheeled around for all those years

its possible, the red model such as that were the slowest sellers of the lot coz of the colour, the solid colour ones look much nicer.
when they were released they had the lowest drag coefficient of any bike made & were genuine 200kmh tourers

dam thats a ugly ugly machine. but thats what makes it uneak.

There are still lots of bikes out there still in the crate or of super low mileage, some will have no real increased value but that depends on how keen the buyer is.

I walked into Auckland Motorcycles in 1985 and said how much for cash for one of these but the then 1000cc version..they said Sticker price and i walked out..cost back then was around $14995 when a wooden 3 bedroom house in Manukau was around $42000

$29875..the same house is now $200000+

Inline 4 cylinder like the K100 and very good top end speed back then.

Nope it's the flat 4 K motor. Yeah don't know who came up with the colour scheme... a Dutch designer on sabbatical to BMW maybe??.. just had a liddle schmoke and hey presto.

7 k's seems weird but Kerry at Motohaus has it so I'd trust it :)

ugly isn't the word i would use to discribe it
i think they are a very interesting bike
as has been said b4, they were cutting edge as far a aerodynamics go at the time,
its the only beemer i would look at from that era.
just my 0.02c
cheers, Allan.

There's a good article in the latest Performance Bikes (which is getting back to it's glorys days of Good Bike Stuff, with a new editor et al.). It's all about Padgetts bike shop in the UK. All sorts of modern and antique bikes available. '74 TZ750, brand new, in the crate. Brand new 98 R1, 0 miles 1987 FZR750, out of the box RG500, RD500 and RD250LC's. Parts galore - Brand new crank, carbon disc and carbs for a YZR500. NSR500V's, Harris-Yamaha GP frames, WSB Bimota YB4 chassis (2 off) holding up a wall. Brand new HRC RC30 heads. Sportbike pornorama.

Helps to have run GP teams for 47 years apparently.

Well worth the 5 mins in the bookstore to have a drool (December issue)

A mate of mine had one of those for a while, same donk as his K100, similar performance too.
I rode it quite a few times neither of us were too impressed with it, they have a very narrow steering lock but that only affected it when you tried to turn around 180 degrees etc.
He didn't have it for very long. Cheers John.

Not a big fan of beems in general, but i'd ride an R80 over that thing anyday, low k's or not. A low K's CB1100R, or VF1000R, and I'd be in like Flynn (Errol Flynn that is)

With the optional luggage it would carry you and the missus (or somebody else's missus) all day at 200kph with some to spare.
Maybe 230 ish max. It'd need careful checking to see that nothing had corroded, like the tank for instance, but it could be a good buy if the price was right.

I remember them being quite cutting edge when they first came out, maybe its just me, anyway I think they would look ok if you changed the front fender out for something less boxy.

I agree that it's more interesting than ugly. The design of the bike, from front to back, looks quite good except for the front guard which throws it out.

Anyone know how much they weighed? Nevermind, looked on the net and found this... !

I'd at least of put a hundred or so on the clock first. How could you own a beast like that and not ride it?
