Coffin Carrier

This may seem abit morbid ... b-u-t had to mention it... On New Years Eve I spent the day at an AWESOME funeral. The sadly departed lady biker was in a coffin on an amazing contraption attached to the side of a HD Ultra. Instead of the usual bike procession to the funeral home we (about 15 bikes) escorted the coffin carrier form her home to the Puhoi Pub where we were joined by a SHITLOAD of other bikes. 2 cops stopped traffic so that we could all get out onto State Highway 1 in a group!!!!! Then we rode to Kaukapakapa Pub and from there along back roads to the Albany. Strangely the Albs was shut but that didn't deter us and we quickly took over another little local bar! Then hit the highway again and headed to the funeral home. We definately got a few strange looks from cars that we passed! It was more like a poker run than a funeral and I thought it was such a COOL way to take yr last ride!!!

Wow !!!! What an amazing funeral.
It's really cool when a dearly departed is remembered in their own way, rather than the normal textbook funeral.
I've been to many over the years (as you get older you start going to more :confused: ) and half the time they don't relate to the actual personality of the deceased.

To be remembered by people that actually know you and know how you'd like to be 'sent off' is a good thing. Funerals can be such sad occasions when they don't have to be. I'd like to be remembered for the person I am rather than for the funeral they gave me.

A very touching well written story,that should remind all of us that we should tell our friends to celebrate our life when we part this mortal coil !! I have a friend who wants a Viking burial at sea,I keep wondering how I'm going to dig an hole in the Ocean though !!!

A woman very well known in the sidecar fraternety who never rode or drove anything but a sidecar her whole life - had her coffin mounted on the sidecar chassis of her outfit for her funeral a couple of years ago,very fitting.For Bryce Subritzki's funeral the hearse drove around the Rosebank Speedway track,and the track is now known as The Bryce Subritzki Memorial Track.
