Listening to his chase was the most exciting thing that happened to me on New year's eve. Gotta love those police scanners.

I'm sorry to all the law abiding peeps out there and in no way do i condone gapping it, but it was a bit silly doing stupid shit in a 50kph for a starter ignore the fact i just got back from a short ride and pulled a 120kph wheelie down my street into a rolling stoppie on a bike that's not even mine and only wearing a T-shirt, but taking both hands off the bars to give the cops the fingers while passing through a road block, now thats fuckin class, too bad he got caught, but ah well do the crime do the time, i reckon he got let off pretty lightly myself, must've been a first offence.

He got off very lightly. And he deserved to get caught because he obviously didn't know where any walkway escape routes were.

Sure does give us all a bad name...and some wonder why cops might pick on bikies??? Shame Bikey Cop didn't catch him and hit him for Multiple $$$$. Rather he fell off and hurt himself...but that would be the Polices fault again, wouldn't it???......

personally i think thats bit unfair, i dont for a second think that cops pick on bikers, the only time i've ever had issues is when i've been doing something i shouldn't off, only once er twice have i been pulled up for doing nothing wrong, one: a bike cop pulled me coz he was bored and wanted a chat (for real) asked me if i was in a hurry and if there was any paerticlar reason my front wheel was 5 foot in the air and this other time when i rode past a HP on my TL just after getting it fixed (i use "fixed" loosely) and he said he pulled me coz he said my bike looked like a heap of shit (hurt i was).

Still got disqualified for nine months, where as the normal disqual period is 6 months hence sometimes they let the $$$$ side of things off lighter and up the disqual period, happened to me, i still walked away with 7 months and $1600 fines

I agree, he had the balls to do what alot of folks here only talk about. :headbang:
Gotta give him credit, for those not familiar with the layout of Christchurch CBD it's not a place you could easily reach speeds of more than 80 without coming acroppa.
Do like the QE2 drive though, fastest I've ever been was down there on the 'ol GSX250 was 140. And if you come off you've only gotta survive the No. 8 fences and you can slide safely until a cow or horse stops you :dodge:
It's a silly place to speed though, the Papanui police use it as to gather revenue and it connects the Central, Brighton and Papanui stations. He'd have been better to do a U turn and get out of town, not cut across it. If he'd bolted south/west out of town it's dual carriageway all the way and he'd only have the Hornby station to pass before the number of available patrol cars becomes greatly dimished. It would be a gamble though, would you stick with the dual carriageway out to Hornby Mall where you could maintain higher speeds, but pass within 100 meters of the Hornby Police station, or sneak off down Springs road and get out to Lincoln. They might not plan for that and reduced traffic might make it a more viable option...
Of course, more police out on New Years so that's a problem, mind you, most are probably on foot in town.
And if they didn't flash the ligths till they were tailing him they'd already called in a QV and he's boned anyway.
I don't think he'd though this through at all. :eek5:

The fines depend on how you argue it in court. I got pinged years ago for a runner and didn't get any fines cos I plead poverty (was 18 or 19 at the time) and instead of $$$ got 3 months PD. Your average 17yo has more time than $$$. Whereas these days it'd likely be big fines and small community work for me cos I have more money than time.
I can't say that pulling a no-hander through a road block is my idea of cool, but I'd happily wheelie through (if I knew how!) Now a wave as you roll up alongside, no comment.

Another quality STUFF article... A judge would not be stupid enough to call a rider a donor... Doing that pre-supposes bias, not a good thing for a judge to be doing.
Obviously not reported in context, any remotely competent lawyer would mention this.
FYI: STUFF is a terrible source of information, do they even use an editor for their pathetic childish dribble ?
