I brought my katana
from the Uk, cost about £600 = $1500 roughly
http://www.motorcyclemovers.com/

it arrived ok, took about 6 weeks.

As far as buyin in the UK goes, you will have a hell of a lot more choice , much more chance of bein ripped off, and will pay more than you would in Nz, unless you are lookin for a rare model like a 1997 ktm duke say when you'll get one cheaper than you would here, classic bikes are much cheaper over there too, but for recent models you are better buyin here, as unless you've owned it for 12 months you will pay gst and import duty on it when you bring it back in.

Try
www.autotrader.co.uk
and of course www.ebay.co.uk for prices:2thumbsup

There are a few KBers over in the UK.

Poshtourerand Mooch are two that I can think of off hand.... they maybe able to help you in the cost advise as to whether to buy over there or ship one over.

Didn't bring the bike over, (not sure it would pass UK WOF with mods and Cans), and had free shipping of stuff so not sure what the costs are like. Bike wise check out http://www.autotrader.co.uk/BIKES/bikes.jsp for bike prices.
I think it would be better to sell and buy again. Second hand 250 market is reasonable in NZ.

Wife was saying that get one that specialise in shipping bikes. Her company used Allied to shift some of our stuff some off which was fragile and arrived in perfect condition. Make sure the bike is put into a proper shipping crate if your going to. You may have to what a while for shipping to UK , depends on how quickly the freight forwarder files containers. Our gear took about 3 months to arrive.

dead easy to ship bikes over to the uk

cost is around $nz1000 per bike, have shipped all of mine over here, i crated them up myself maty cost a little more if they crate them up and you can fit a lot gear ina nd around the bike

20' container is about nz$3000 to ship plus the rip off charges at this end fro clearance and freight

uk mot (equiv of nz wof) is an absolute joke, standards are so low it is impossible to fail, most people slip on a standard exhaust for an mot and change back to a illegal sytem 5 minutes later, no cops on the road so you will never get pulled for loud pipes

only restrictions are you need to have owned and used the bike in nz for over a year to be exempt customs and vat

only other restriction is you can't sell it over here within a year without being clobered with vat and import duty
