I've had mine turned off for the last few days, and it's bloody great!!!
No tossers being able to annoy me. There's an answerphone to leave a message on, and If I feel inclined to, I may just reply - IF I feel the need.
Technology, people, is there to serve us - NOT the other way around.

Dude...
Can't you take a hint? Perhaps they just don't want to talk to you? Or maybe they were sleeping with your mum at the time and thought it would be embarrasing if they answered the phone :eek5:

Cellphones are great! They tell me who it is ringing, if its a number with held then they get the answer machine! The can be left in inconspicious places where they can easily be forgotten about or even ignored. Great for all of us who have a life:nya:

People who drive holden commodores seems to have a habit of talking on cellphones and then going through intersections and nearly hitting me, but I guess the guy you are trying to get a hold of must be a ford driver?

I've got both pager and cell-phone, both are turned on and with me 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. I'm used to it now - it goes with the job.
My biggest grizzle is people who have their cell-phone permanently on "silent". Teenagers are the worst for this, I've got two teenager daughters and it is impossible to get hold of them.
Frequently I get a text message from one of them, saying "please phone me". (This translates as "I want to talk to you but don't want to pay"...). So I phone them, and get no answer - their phone is on silent as usual!
Worse is when they ask to "borrow" my phone. Despite the conditions and threats that go with that, I usually find my phone is on "silent" afterwards.
Arrghhh!!!!!!!!!!
(Rant over.....)

I may also be contacted by placing words on a sheet of paper, putting said paper into an "envelope" and posting it to me.:shit:
I have a small box with a slot, at my front gate into which the envelope may eventually appear (if you have remembered to put a "stamp" on the outside of the envelope.:thud:
Quite out of fashion currently (unless you are part of a company who likes EVIL things... like BILLS!!!:2guns: ) but eminently more personable methinks...:Punk:

Funny how people used to be able to be contacted before cell phones pagers etc. And life was a lot more relaxed too - surprising that.

My phone is always on silent. When I'm out and about I can feel it vibrating when it goes off, unless I'm on the bike when I ignore it anyway. When at home if someone want's to get ahold of me they can call my house number. If it's urgent then they have my house number if it's not then I don't need to worry about it. I'm sure you would know but I'm not all that much older than your daughter lol.
